I'm gonna give muma the benefit of the doubt and say he meant in NA and that he wasn't including b4nny cuz he's not playing it and that his list was:

Yeah I meant tf2 in general, hence the edit to clarify. I wasn't counting b4nny because he plays scout now. Replace kaidus with deadbolt and that's what I think. There is obviously a couple more that I'd consider still good, but they have either a) quit tf2, b) quit demoman because it's impact on the game is drastically weaker and the class is hardly any fun at all or 3) not on a team.

Aren't there better soldiers, scouts, medics and maybe demos in open right now than in IM though?

I guess paddie would be one of the top scouts in IM tho (and hivemind roamer)

edit: I forgot indust and mike on medic. No team in open has a complete package of solid IM level players though

I wasn't being sarcastic. I thought it was sort of silly that some people were caught up in who was the best at their position in IM when there are people in open who are easily better. Indust and Mike are easily better medics. Tri is open. Bronze is in open. Paddie is in open. There are a multitude of others who could easily have a place in the IM or even invite scenes as well.

I wasn't really thinking along the lines of a single team being all IM level players, but lets be real, top open has always been stronger than low IM, and with a couple class switches 6cuties could easily compete at the high IM level (or higher, obviously) and they aren't the only ones.

You're forgetting how low the bar is set. Looking at start playing players alone scouts better than just me include: Tri, Br0nze, Paddie, Throne, Guru, smashysmashy, moolkey, and phone. And that's just people I've played against. I don't know most of the up and coming open players tbh

Idk about that man none of the top open teams have even taken a single round off of us in scrims (cept 6cuties on our worst map) and we're pretty mid IM. Low IM teams do way better in our scrims.

Edit: to knuckles I think his post meant that there were open players better than every player in IM at their class. I agree for indust's case but no one else

As knuckles suggests, I was being pretty general. I haven't kept up with the comp scene for a while, but unless I'm missing something Tri is a better soldier than anyone playing soldier in IM right now, and as I recall br0nze impressed nearly everyone during his first season of invite (back when you didn't know which team was going to win lan before the season started) and has at least 3 seasons of midish invite experience playing scout. Other players in open have similar resumes, or have played at the top of IM in seasons past. While most of them might not be blatantly superior, they are at least in contention. I get that people improve, so I'm not trying to write off anyone at the top of IM right now as shit or as undeserving - not at all.

Also, your team is ranked 4th in IM. You should be dunking open teams. But do you really think that toward the end of this season the teams at the top of open won't be able to beat the current low IM teams that barely made open playoffs last season?

that's always how it has been. my team last season (with bill & giraffe) always dunked on IM teams when we were in open. the only teams i remember giving us a challenge in scrims were the top 5. same thing happened the season before that. and trip's team isn't #4, im sorry to say that to my boy blues.
