Hey, I was wondering who on tf.tv was involved in the polyglot community/learns languages other than their native one. I thought it might be cool if people came here to find gamers to converse in other languages. Right now I consider myself nearly fluent in spanish, decent at french, and I'm also studying German and Swedish at a beginning level.

I learned French, English and German in highschool (and latin lolol)
Then went to Japan for a year so learned some of that stuff.
Now studying Russian, English and Dutch in uni.

My native language is Dutch. Also this list is way longer than it should be

idk i wish i could actually give a shit to learn another language but like there's really not a point to it other than looking nice on a resume unless you really like foreign poetry/culture or w/e

i imagine its a lot more rewarding if you live in a country where you can reasonably use your language more than once in a decade, or just drive an hour and start talking and shit idk

Fluent in Polish, decent at English, basic German, mediocre French, looking to start learning Russian and I meet up with many foreigners so I can talk with them.

Fluent in English and French

Decent at Spanish and German

Also once you learn a couple of languages (esp German and any Romance languages) learning new ones becomes exponentially easier. I also have never learned a language with a different alphabet. Easiest way to learn a language is immersion, even just a 1 or 2 week vacation can improve language (esp conversational) so much.

I'm NA but I did live in EU for ~2 years so I guess that doesn't really count

Fluent in English & French, mediocre spanish. And yeah, just like Phunk said, learning a language is so much easier if you speak with native speakers.

I can speak Portuguese (duh) and English. I spent 2 months in Italy so I learned the basic of italian to survive there (it's pretty similar to portuguese so it wasn't hard). Now I'm studying French because I want to a get master and/or PhD degree in France.

After I get to an acceptable level in French, I may start studying Italian to improve it.

I speak German, English, took Latin and Italian in school

Show Content
but I don't remember shit

and I know some Mandarin from when I stayed in China for a few months last year

Currently learning French with duolingo which is allright for getting started I guess and when that is semi-fluent I plan on moving on to Spanish

On my list: Spanish, Swedish, Japanese, Russian? and Mandarin (properly, I only know bits and pieces necessary for survival)

I bought Rosetta Stone when it was on a sick discount in order to learn Farsi aka Persian.

It's a beautiful language, and Farsi poetry is awesome.

Also apparently Americans fluent in Farsi can very easily get government work because it's what they speak in Iran.

I'm natively fluent in Hebrew and Russian, which describes every fifth-sixth Israeli (Jew) on average. ШЭДОУБЁРН СУКА

There's a lot of languages that I had a fleeting thought about wanting to learn, mostly when binging on a band and having to search for translations or put their lyrics through Google Translate. My language of the week: French. (Video NSFW)

It seems as though there's not a single hard sound in this language. So sexy.

The only way I've ever learned another language was through school, but I refined what I learned talking with native speakers online. I would suggest watching movies or tv shows with subtitles in the language you want to learn. It not only helps you learn useful common phrases, but also increases your reading speed in that particular language

also i want to learn portugeuse so AleX and Kaneco I'M ADDING YOU GET READY
