Anyone going to get this phone? I have the OPO and it's solid, I just shattered the screen by being a dumbass so looking to upgrade...OP2 seems legit just not sure how long it'll take to get an invite. Also considering S6 Edge but I really don't want to shell out $600+ for a phone
I plan on getting one. Just waiting for my caseless OPO to break after another drop.
i had an S3 before the OPO and i don't think i could go back to all the BS bloat and overheating that happens with the galaxies
well it really depends on what you want in a phone
the S6 has easily the best display and a legendary battery life (more so in the Note, all the extra space is battery)
the iPhone 6 has the best UI and (usually) runs faster and smoother than android phones
the HTC One is just an overall good Android phone, and is the easiest to root if you want to do that
the OnePlus2 is pretty similar to the HTC One from what i've heard, while having no bloatware
can't really think of any other good phones, since the other Androids are just downgrades from the S6/One

OP2 has what i want at a great price point i just need to get an invite, lol. I've been operating my phone via bluetooth keyboard because touchscreen is non responsive after shattering screen, haha
I would get an OP2 but I heard it has not Verizon support. Thinking about the moto x pure that's coming out later this fall from the overviews i saw its pretty solid.

phone looks dope. only thing is the fingerprint scanner for a home button seems kind of shaky. also usb-c doesnt have any fast charge support, so its going to take like twice as long to charge. but thats supposed to be fixed when M is released.
if youre in a real bind though dude check swappa, usually some good deals on there. got my nexus 5 on there after i dropped my n4, its a pretty smooth service.

The phone looks sick, I'm on the invite list, if I don't get in I intend to get the new Moto X Style/Play, they look really really good on paper and you can buy them without an invite

If you don't have an invite as of now, from the most recent news of both the super small amount of OP2's from the Paris launch and the delayed shipments to the US and the immense amount of reserved invites on the list, unless you know someone who's earlier on in the invite list who would give you an invite, it'd probably take a few months to get an OP2, most likely taking until near the end of the year. If you can wait that long, it seems pretty solid, but otherwise, you could go for the Moto X Style/Pure coming out in a couple of months that's going to be a super solid competitor with the OP2. If you're worried about price, you could look around for some other phones (I'm assuming around the same price of the OP2 is what you're looking for) like the LG G3, the Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3, or the ASUS Zenfone 2 if you want a change from the OPO. If you end up being ok with spending more on a phone, you could go with the Nexus 6 for $500 or the S6 Active, which has a way better battery and a safer build than the standard S6's. Good luck finding what you want, man.
best Chinese flagship is out now and it kills the competition. OPO was good at the time but OPO2 is like a gimmick it would've been relevant if it was released 2 months Ago
the only "bad" thing is 1080p screen but that's beyond the res u need for a mobile phone too IMO. Better battery life than 2k
Meizu mx5 out right now 21mp camera totl specs they always use nice headphone amp and DAC too. $330 msrp

Note 4 or S6 regular are fantastic. Also its pretty easy to get a theme that gets rid of all the samsung touch wiz nonsense. The HTC m9 is also solid with less built in nonsense than the samsung phones but with a crappier camera, screen, and battery life. The nexus 6 has stock android lollipop but it is gigantic and kind of cumbersome to use, larger than the iphone 6 plus and the note 4.
I would recommend going to a retailer and simply trying out the various high end phones they have on display before buying anything, see if there are any you especially like. I myself have an Xperia Z3 from earlier this year, and I really love it, mostly for the waterproofing, camera, and battery life, fits my needs pretty well.
Platinummx5 sounds pretty good too, do you have it Rick?
I don't have that exact phone but I had the meizu mx4 last years model and it was amazing. I ended up selling it and getting a xiaomi mi4 which was decent until I dropped it now I'm using a lenovo k3 note which is an amazing phone for $150
BTW all of these unlocked phones whether OPO or Chinese/OEM will only work on GSM networks (aka t mobile at&t and metro pcs/random prepaid) granted that they support your local frequencies
For me I use t mobile so 3g data is 1900mhz WCDMA
Almost all phones will be quad band so that means SMS and voice will always work, it just depends on the data.
For 3g on at&t it's 850 1900 WCDMA and they use all of the LTE freqs especially 700
T mobile is 1700 and 2100 WCDMA or 1900 WCDMA
LTE is 1700 1900 and 2100/ 700
but yea all the meizu phones have had good custom support as far as ROMs so of you mess with custom ROMs you can usually get a lean version of android that'll make the device fly. A lot of mfg have proprietary android skins nowadays

Apparently Samsung has toned down their bloatware a lot with the S6

Tonshathe majority of what you said is all preference
the S6 has a higher PPI than any other phone mentioned and is the only one with an OLED screen
iOS is a cleaner, and more effective UI for the vast majority of people (who care about UI). its also usually faster than most android phones.
the One is a lot easier to root (almost no barriers/deterrents from HTC)
the OP2 has less bloatware than any other phone besides the iPhone
not sure what part is personal preference besides maybe the iPhone UI thing

Plat if you really are into getting a OnePlus 2 I am pretty low on the invite list and don't actually plan on buying it
What rick said is spot on, the OnePlus 2 is good if you plan on getting the s6 or iphone 6 or what have you, but if you are into the best the mx5 is a great choice and at a similar price point, but you really have to search around to find them
Also as a carrier I have to recommend cricket, great customer support and it runs off at&t and T-Mobile networks so coverage is great, and I haven't found a carrier that can beat unlim talk and text and 2.5Gb of data for 35 a month

this is the retailer I use for most Chinese products. They are awesome with customer service as far as Chinese resellers go and I've never had a problem. They accept PayPal etc. Their DHL is pretty cheap 2-3 day shipping from China to US for under $15
this is one of the most relevant flagships right now around $360 if you get shipped via DHL. Not bad compared to the obscene msrp of iPhone 6 and s6
For those on a budget I can't recommend the lenovo k3 note more.
5.5 inch 1080p screen
1.7ghz octo core w. The new GPU chipset
2gn ddr3 16 GB storage w. SD card slot
13mp camera.
The design itself is really sexy and its a no gimmick clean design. Sells for $150 which is dirt cheap, its the budget killer
Only bad thing is that your gojng want a 3rd party custom ROM lenovo loves loading their phones with bloatware and some borderline malicious stuff
Good thing there's multiple ROMs out that support the lenovo and debloat it.
If anyone has questions add me on steam I've been into smartphones since Nokia n95

Neither the One nor the Two are waterproof.

The one doesn't have a waterproof rating, but I have seen some of them survive after being on while submerged in a few feet of water for a few seconds
I wouldn't try but apparently they can take it

I'm going to wait an see how the new OxygenOS plays out.
I'm a fan of Cyanongen mod but since the falling out between OPO and CM I'm more hesitant.
That said I would expect a CM Rom for OP2 in the near future.

I have OnePlus One. Best smartphone ever for 300$ with top hardware. Don't think, just buy it. OnePlus don't make shit ;)
I prefer cyanogen mod 12 to oxygen os for a variety of reasons, and until support for cm12 ends completely I'll stick with it
also you can intstall cm12 on the two and its super easy
