Thoughts?
Pretty sad. He was pretty much one of the only good HL casters.
sigafwho?
Dismissing my snide remark; who was this guy in relation to the comp community? I guess it is a bit of a shame that a fairly popular casting crew is losing one if its members. Hopefully they find someone to fill the position

He's a former Platinum engi, and really good as well. He's also (as you can tell from the vid) a really good caster as well

He was a long time high level engineer who went into casting with evl
He's also a super nice guy, except he's really short. Like, uncomfortably short

He was an intelligent engineer main with good DM who then went to casting HL.
TL;DR for video: sigafoo casted every week for the entirety of the season with rotating co-casters, and then got cut from casting the grand finals with 48 hours notice. As a result of the poor communication from EVL TV staff (primarily from this instance, but a couple others mentioned in the video), sigafoo doesn't want to work with the organization and is leaving.

drama aside, I'd like to bring up his point about the meshing of casting styles.
I don't see what problem there is with having two casters that run play-by-play. Although the favored style of "one guy speaks really fast about some incredible killstreaks and then a slow voice gives us some analysis" is a fine one, if two play-by-play casters are just kind of pulling laterals to each other while covering any action is a great and exciting way to watch TF2, and during the down time like a stalemate or a wipe, they can both give some insight on positioning and other things, where it went wrong, where it went right kind of stuff.

Sad to see this; I always really enjoyed Sigafoo's casting (He is one of my favorite players as well <3 love you bb).
However, I think we should avoid jumping the gun as people did with the Froyotech-GGG fiasco. While I suspect Sigafoo is totally in the right here, we should also wait to hear evltv's response, or at least some kind of apology or recognition of this occurrence.
For now, however, I will be in full support of Sigafoo and can't wait to hear him cast again.

THEBILLDOZERwho cares
Aren't you the "how is he in IM jesus IM must suck now" guy
Anyway, I think it's dumb how eLv handled the situation. It's like a worse version of the GGG froyo disaster.
He litterally spend his own time helping them cast and is a hell of a lot more experienced HL player than gecks

seriously, what do these posts even add to the conversation?
On-topic, this sucks. He was a very good caster, and if what he said about the EVL staff is true about them messaging him MID-CAST to ask him, "hey, what the fuck are you doing??", then that's pretty un-professional. Things really need to be more organized behind-the-scenes in TF2. Seems a little wonky, lately.

For the record, the two EVL staff members I've personally dealt with (Jeeringsole and Yoshi51) have been helpful and friendly in my dealings with them, over Steam and in Mumble. Their server business runs very well, and their casts have been great.
I hope this is an unfortunate miscommunication, because all the good EVL is doing (server discounts for comp, battle royale, and casting) paints a different picture than how they treated Sigafoo.

This shows just how nuanced issues like this often are. I would like to hear something from evltv, though.

i don't know the evl staff at all, and i don't know the situation at hand very well either, but i have played with sigafoo quite a bit, and it's a bit sad to hear he was mistreated
sigafoo is an ultra nice guy who has nothing but love for tf2, so it would be a bit unfair for him to get shafted mid-cast, but i also want to know more details on what happened

Pretty sad to hear about this. It seems to be a miscommunication from what I can tell, but it definitely could have been handled better
Lolhl but it sucks that this is how it happened
They seems like a very professional organization and as dashner said, Geck's is certainly qualified for the job, but I think that sigafoo was disgruntled by the late notice
That's underatantable and will be easy to fix in the future I should hope

I'm really upset about the way this whole situation worked out, Sigafoo is a great caster. He was not cut because of his casting ability. When we heard that Gecks was on board with us to help with playoffs we knew that we'd be able to get more exposure to highlander, and TF2. Gecks has a significant following outside of the TF2 world, and we were interested in having him cast with us.
We tried to have Sigafoo and Gecks cast together, but having two play-by-play casters didn't work out as well as we would have hoped. Everyone on the evlTV admin team works full time, and volunteers in other organizations. And as anyone can tell you time management is a PITA.
I really wish we would have had more time to give proper notice to Sigafoo about this, and I wish him the best. He was extremely valued at evlTV.

I know first hand that EVL aren't the only casting network that may seem to act unprofessional at times (I wont even begin to go into details). But sigafoo is blowing this whole thing out of proportion. He feels as though he has an entitlement to something, and regardless of whether or not EVL told him what he's doing plans can and will change, and if he thinks that he should get a reward for volunteering his time then he's handling this completely wrong. I don't disagree that Sigafoo is a great caster, but considering circumstances revolving next season they want to put on the best cast possible, and with the resources they have to them that cast has Gecks and Grizz as play-by-play and grizz on color commentary respectively.
Like it or not EVL is the network covering HL now. They recently got a new writer for various things, they hired Dashner, and are generally handling this very professionally. The little casting network that would pick up casters off the streets has moved on to bigger and better things. As with anything similar to this, there will be negative feedback from supporters of Sigafoo, and that can be in part to the bias from them wanting to support him. I've worked with him and talked to him, he's an awesome dude who has done his part for this game, and EVL will certainly take a hit from losing such a name. Don't discredit them as I said, they're what we have and at this point in TF2 having anything is practically a blessing.

Sekistuff.
While I agree with most of what you said, I think Sigafoo has been mistreated, at least a little bit; he was told he would be covering a very important cast, he put the time and effort in, and shortly before he had the chance to do this cast, he was told he would no longer be able to. While I think the way he went about doing this was not optimal, I do think he has a point, however small it may be.

I enjoy casting with sigafoo very much, incredibly smart guy with a lot of good opinions and it is always interesting talking with him about the game.
I'd put him with Gecks, fuck the "styles not meshing", get your two best casters and get them on the final...for i55 I am sure they will have their two best casters on the stage so why not for these finals?
