So like he idiot I am I left my dual link dvi cable at gxl and it seems that no shop around me sells them are there other cables I can use to get 144hz on an asus monitor? I'm not very good with computer tech :/

Yeah there are 2 ways you can get 120/144 hz support: DVI cable and Display Port. But you would have to check if you have a display port (most newer models do). After Googling a little, prices look to be around the same for either cable. At least online, not sure how Fry's or Wal-mart would price them at.
