Seems like devs didn't actually try their own game. Sounds like there's a ton of problems
I'm gonna defer this one till later I think. Too bad I thought it would be really impressive at the start

I don't know, I followed the steam guide for fixing mouse accel, fov, uncapping fps and vertical sens and besides a few glitches from my 120fps (lockpicking is horrendously bugged and i occasionally freeze when accessing terminals) the game is fun, with more content than I will probably care to explore.
Definitely not worth the $60 launch cost but for $45 (ty yuki) and a 5 minutes of .ini editing to fix the shitty port it's been a pretty awesome addition to the series. Behind the bullshit it's a really solid game.

It's very surprising to me that people don't know this already about Bethesda. They literally do not give a shit. And the reason they don't is because you go on r/gaming and it's rife with posts about the game being "funny" by ruining the user's immersion every step of the way. They are pretty notorious for having very buggy games that live on through third-party mods. The elder scrolls series is a pretty good example, Skyrim most recently. The game looks ~ok, but after the first playthrough, you really can't take the lackluster gameplay, poor voice-acting, bugs, and the overall nonsensical feeling you get from playing it (really no other word I can think of to describe it). Of course, it doesn't help that every time Bethesda announces a game is going to be released, they lie about the features of the game. So maybe people are consistently tricked, and they actually think they're buying some game that transcends open-world gaming. It's basically become their shtick and their fans actually somehow enjoy it when:

If your thing is immersion into a story (something I'd think you'd want out of an RPG game), Bethesda games probably aren't your games. At the very least, not on release.

the problem was morrowind was great but buggy as fuck because they worked with a skeleton crew and barely made release
then they didn't give a fuck for oblivion and just kind of realized you don't actually have to try
like its really clear something is HORRIBLY fucking wrong with their dev cycle because it only takes a month for modders to retexture the entire game to not look like shit. The animations and a lot of the other awkwardness like lighting are engine related, and modders can't fix that, but like they've been using the same engine for 10 years and its had the same problems in every iteration.
and u get downvoted on reddit if you criticize it in any sort of substantial way. Bethesda gets away with this because they've managed to corner a market, but like angsty anime nerds in a bedroom can make their game better than they can at this point and it continues to weird me out that no one makes a beth game without the bethesda parts of it

sad part is Fallout 4 uses the same engine (maybe with slight changes) as Skyrim a game that was designed for the Xbox 360 and was made 4 years ago.

Did people not know that it was the old engine until it came out? If so that's pretty nuts. I don't understand why a smaller company just literally all-ins an rpg with a really good engine and really well constructed. Is cost an issue? From what it sounds like you guys think it's a really easy task to do some of these things

you'd really need to develop an inhouse engine to pull off what bethesda does in a better way. that requires WAY more capital than the sort of things modders do to improve the games. Bethesda also kind of has an ace in the hole in that their market exposure is amazing. For the same reason that your game would fail theirs would always succeed no matter what they do

btw, there's a lot of people posting online saying that they get better fps in borderless window mode, but it's the exact opposite for me, so definitely worth trying if you're having fps issues. It's a drastic change to, from like constant 35-40, to 60 almost all the time.
Also I've played almost 20 hours and haven't run into a single bug other than a few minor clipping issues, but that's nothing to speak of. I see where people are coming from with the complaints, but it's still one of the best player driven exploration games I've ever played, so I really can't complain too much, but that's just my opinion I guess.

I recapped my fps and went back to the default Prefs.ini files and my game runs fantastic on Ultra Now
Definitely think the graphics could have been updated considering I'm running a brand spanking new AAA title on an over two year old PC on Ultra but it still looks pretty nice and I'm enjoying it a lot more now that my frame issues are worked out.
Would honestly give it a 9/10 (maybe more once i get more into it) once the fuckery of the fps is resolved.
Edit:
The only real glitches I've ran into is a couple times I've gotten stuck in between something and couldn't escape forcing me to reload my save as I can't fast travel while jumping/in air and a much dumber bug where when you go to put a fusion core into your power armor that the animation for it will have you get stuck walking into the suit unable to complete the sequence which is absolutely retarded.
I'm also running it in fullscreen haven't really tried the borderless windowed option

ok, so how the hell do i cap the fps? it was uncapped for me by default and i get like 400 fps when trying to pick locks and doing that at super speed has cost me so many bobby pins
- editing the .ini files? which commands?
- geforce experience / nvidia control panel?
- rivatuner?

I capped my fps to 95 via the AMD catalyst control center, I assume the Nvidia control panel would have something similar.

FYI: Idiot Savant level 2 can be obtainted at lvl 11 just need 5 luck and the previous perk level

Providing electricity to your settlement
I could add a couple more but they had some serious spoilers in them.
Map that detail a lot of locations including where to find bobbleheads, settlements, weapons, etc.
-for fun character build-
The Wolverine / Hugh Jackman / Logan
S4 P3 E7 C3 I1 A5 L5
Build I plan on using.
Idea behind this
S4 blacksmith option to improve knuckles that can be found on raiders in concord and the obvious melee perks
P3 awareness is pretty nice
E7 adamantium skeleton is a requirement imo, life giver due to health regen at a low level (16 to max it out)
C3 lone wanderer has pretty nice buffs and I believe they work with dogmeat following you anyway
I1 none of the perks here matter (for this build) and would only make idiot savant weaker
A5 Action Boy AP regeneration is really nice
L5 Idiot savant would make leveling much faster, bloody mess for bonus damage
sidenote: not sure if it's iron fist or big leagues that knuckles would use for the stat buff

the thing is you can save scum everything in this game, you can even quicksave DURING dialogue choices and can pass every dialogue check with 1 charisma. this is kinda lame tbh because i put 7 points into charisma and i feel like i still fail every single persuasion attempt on the first try.
so if you have idiot savant you can just keep reloading quest turn ins until it procs
so if you have idiot savant you can just keep reloading quest turn ins until it procs
fallout 3 had the same problem where you could break the game by just save scumming speech checks
NV/2 were broken in that 100 speech meant you never had to fight
there's not really a good way around that

you could make a certain amount of charisma required for certain persuasion options to even show up. that makes the most sense to me otherwise it kind of defeats the point of the stat
or you know you could just play the game and not be ultra gamey about it.
every game is great when you ignore its problems :)
how is it all enjoyable to spend like twenty minutes on a single piece of dialogue reloading it to get the exact thing you want
i honestly do not have time for that
save scumming is a literal non problem bc its just exploiting the game, it doesn't make you unable to play or enjoy it if you don't do it
sure it's dumb but it isn't as if the game is forcing you to reload saves over and over while playing the system

when you reload it goes at the dialogue choice, you spend like a minute or less redoing the dialogue choices. save scumming isn't a problem it's just charisma blows dick and i wish they at least made it so even with high charisma you don't fail the lowest tier speech checks
they took crit chance out of the game so speech checks are pretty much the only true rng in the game outside of the luck stat shit

this has happened to me like 9 or 10 times so far, where at random points in the game it teleports me to the sky and drops me and i die of fall damage.

Idk if people didn't understand what I meant. I was refering to the whole "save scumming" bit. which imo complaining about save scumming is akin to complaining about console commands being usable from the 1st second of the game.
as for smvn have you tried adding a fps cap yet
you might be having the issue clockwork pointed out earlier with this

basically if you have really high fps and you ADS you have a chance to teleport.

why do people say this? honestly...are you content with how large companies release broken ass, bad pc ports all the time because they know people will always be stupid enough to hype and pre-order pretty much about anything?
let's just ignore the recurrent problems, so that they keep doing it.....sure.
