Always played a lot of shitty free games as a kid; GunZ, Soldier Front, Maplestory, Wolf Team, and AVA but for the most part still played xbox with school buddies. Team Fortress 2 was really the game that made me stay a pc gamer, good too see that the trend of shitty free games hasn't changed haha
While I still enjoyed console games as a kid, the first game that really made me appreciate why the PC is such a good tool for gaming was Unreal Tournament, which my Dad let me play in a LAN environment with his friends at the age of about 8.
I was terrible. But man. Good times.

the only computer i had at the time was a 2008 stock macbook and the only fps game worth playing for mac was cod 2. i bought a gaming mouse for it and played at an awful res but at least it got decent frames. first game in which i pursued a clan to join. it was a pub clan but i just wanted to play some organized games. had a blast playing search and destroy/ctf with those dudes, they were on every single day. SnD for cod 2 back then was so fun I wish it was revived. rifles in general were awesome. finally built a pc to handle cod 2 at full res and then tf2 comes out .. .
I was gifted The Orange Box on Steam by a friend when I was like 17-18ish, so I had to make a Steam account. First I played Portal, and then HL2. I was nuts about both those games. I didn't touch TF2 for awhile because I was scared of getting yelled at for playing poorly, but once I did start, I was hooked.
It was all downhill from there.

Tribes:Ascend. It was the first game I played on PC that I really sunk time into and enjoyed.
The games that really sold me on PC gaming were Civilization IV and Medieval II Total War

Diablo 1 (I was awful, couldn't get past the 5th floor or something like that)
And some weird ass windows game that had Donald Duck as a ninja.... Maui Mallard maybe? Friend of the family had it and I'd lose my shit every time we visited.

Command and Conquer (the original) knew I was stuck. Earth Siege was pretty swole too.
TFC 2fort...i was fuckin kids up as soldier in ramp room. Then soldier of fortune 2 on dial up. Hit scan with 250 ping is hard
Really started FPS with a rather shitty game called Soldier Front. Really strange how I moved to TF2 after that now that I think about it.
