pretty sure that people who make these threads dont take on count the opinion of those who answer
Arguably I'd say the regular is better if you learn how to aim with something off-center. I prefer the original because of the fact that it feels more like hitscan and it's easier to airshot. But the regular rockets come out of the top right of your screen (not at the corner, but off the center it's to the top left or right, depending on your orientation). I think this makes it a lot easier to shoot rockets downward considering you have the angle advantage. Shooting the top of the train on badlands middle, for instance, is a lot easier with the regular.
vanillaand aiming pretty much just consists of shooting feet.
I assume you don't play soldier.

As a matter of fact, I have ~200 more hours on soldier than you do. In case you haven't been around the community for very long, it's a joke that all soldiers do is shoot feet to get kills, I was being facetious. The point I was trying to make is that the differences in how well you can aim with stock vs. original is so minor in the end, it doesn't matter much which you use as long as you get used to using it.

actually idk

I'm sure a lot of stock rocket launcher users would use the original if there were a strange version
Mouses has never and will never be correct.
Sure, you can find an ancient article on the web talking about how they didn't want to pluralize it as mice because they wanted to avoid confusion, but it's called a mouse, and the plural of mouse is mice. That argument is as dumb as the people who think the plural of virus is viri or virii.
Regarding the stock vs original...
It absolutely does not matter. There are minute differences between the two that negate one another. If you think your RL is your limiting factor, I have news for you: it's not. Pick one and practice.

100% agreement that it's all personal preference as far as aim is concerned.
Only thing i wish is that the rocket noise out of the original was the same volume/noise as the regular. There is a slight stealth advantage in that regard. Anyone know if there's a way to mod/change that client side without getting vac banned lol? There were ways to do this in other HL mods, but never really looked into TF2.

It's doable, but it's a grey area. I consider sound mods to be cheating when they give you a clear advantage over anyone not using them. People used to make the spy de-cloaking sound louder and most of them claimed it wasn't cheating because valve made it relatively easy to do... but that logic is retarded as far as I'm concerned.

We need particle hacks back in. Just as easy as sound mods but way more utility.

another original thread so i thought i'd step in to let everyone who can't hear the weapon know that the sound is fine; your speakers/headphones have shit low-range
one time hooli said this "why give up a 1 buff manly arm for 2 decent arms" i think the original shouldn't be used unless you don't like view models.
look the point is mainly that i can hear it fine and it is a loud sound so something is wrong with you or your hardware i can't be expected to diagnose everyone in minute detail lay off

I can hear it fine in certain situations (MGE for example, though alot less action is going on). Mid-fights however the sound is far less noticeable than the regular. Mainly from a longer distance jump, where as i can hear the regular way more clear...which is very beneficial as the sound helps predict direction for a bomb from a flank you may not see coming.
I have a laptop and a desktop with various hardware on each...and i've noticed it on both....so who knows. I have spent years in and out of studios so who knows how fucked my ears are. Also i could care less if people use it either way, i was just sharing my own opinion.

speaking of 15 degrees breaking the game, has valve made a proper serverside-handled horizontal fov cap yet that doesn't require a retarded resolution to go above the norm

i am right handed, but i play lefty. I use a weird set of controls. I dont like using the left handed viewmodel with my stock RL. Since its more comfortable for people to flick away from their body for RJs it makes jumping with the stock launcher a little tricky for me. I use the original and that helps a lot. plus i come from the original quake, and the original TF mod so its nostalgic for me to use it =)
The argument that you should use the regular because u will always have it when steam servers go down is ridiculous. You dont use the shovel because its a safer bet in the case that steam servers go down, you use the equalizer. If you're playing with no steam servers you are going to have a lot bigger issues than not being used to the slight orientation change of your rocket launcher.
Personally i use the original since i started pocketing, since i could never get used to using the regular rl with no viewmodels and the original seems to make more sense to me without viemodels. On the other hand when i was roaming i almost always used the regular because it seemed that i was better at rocket jumping with it, as i had lots of practice using it.

pick one and stick with it. i personally tried the original for a while but this isn't quake, doesn't look like quake, and doesn't play like quake. so it felt off, and even after giving it a few weeks to get adjusted to it, i still found myself missing a lot of the flick shots via over/under aiming (depending on if it was flick left/right) because of the hundreds of hours i put on the stock. both are good, both dominate the fuck out of the ground. pick one, stick with it.
