It just came out, anyone been playing it? I've really been enjoying it so far, although I've heard it's a bit short. The word is so beautiful, and the voice acting is really really good, so I'm hoping it doesn't let me down in the length department.

I was looking at it. Would be interested to hear your recommendation once you've finished it. Maybe bump this thread when that happens?
If it's as short as Invisible Inc. was I'll be let down as well.

Yeah, definitely.
Yeah, definitely.
just finished it
overall i enjoyed it, the world looks nice and the voice acting is really good. i was a bit let down by the ending as were a lot of other people on reddit, but it was still nice to play through. also note it is VERY linear, with not much room for exploration or really doing anything not a part of the story.
i'd say wait for a sale if you're still interested in it. with the length (3-4 hours for most people it seems) and some gripes about the story i'd be a lot happier if i'd paid ~$10 or less.

Alright, I finished it. Took me roughly 5 hours. It's a very interesting game with a compelling story. The ending is a bit of a let down, but it didn't bother me as much as other people seem to be saying. Basically everything erkston said is correct though, for the length, the price is a bit high.
Bottom line: If you don't care about length value, then definitely pick it up, but otherwise I'd wait until it's $15 or less.
Also, there's a camera in the game that lets you take pictures, and then once you finish the game you can purchase physical prints of the photos you took for $15. Seems like a bit of a cash grab, but still interesting nonetheless.

the301stspartanWat I can just print them for free lmao
Yeah, they don't exactly advertise it, but the images are just sitting in your appdata folder, and could be printed on your own for a lot less. As far as I can tell they just print individual 4x6s, not any special book or anything.
edit: yeah just glossy prints.

throwback to collycats hud and the copyright issue
Finished the game as well in about 6 hours. The aspect of adventure is this game is substantial and exciting. In my opinion the soundtrack alone is worth half the games cost, really beautiful work on that. The writing is actually very good, and the game has a really cute sense of humor that kept me smiling the entire time. The late-80s vibe and TF2-ish aesthetic/graphic style is super cool and familiar obviously. The first 5 minutes is super interesting and oddly manages to make you invest in the characters, which is a shame due to how they drop most of it with the ending as far as consequence goes. The plot itself in my opinion was kinda weak, there was a lot of stuff that the developer made you think was important early on but turned out to be completely irrelevant at the end of the game. The ending really doesn't make any sense, I think the devs got off to a super strong start but really fumbled near the end of writing, which is a shame because it deprives you the gamer of a really great climax (no pun intended) at the end of all the buildup throughout the story.
Overall I would say it's a good purchase for a cute thriller/mystery game while its 10% off, it's this indie studio's first effort and I think their next title will definitely have major improvements because of this one's feedback.

Seriously anticipating this game, but I may just listen to all the suggestions of waiting for it to go on sale.
Started the game this afternoon and completed it in 3-4 hours in one sitting.
Personally I really enjoyed it and I had no qualms with the price of the game. If you're looking for a game with a notable amount of gameplay, this game might not be for you. It's essentially a walking simulator, except you occasionally have to interact with some objects and look at your map to figure out where to got to next (you can disable certain icons on the map that make it more realistic to use, but even then it's nearly impossible to get lost), and there's basically no reason to go exploring just for the sake of exploring. It's an extremely linear story.
That being said, I found the story very engrossing, and even creepy at times, without giving too much away. I feel like the game is short enough that I really don't want to say much of anything about the actual plot, or it would lessen the experience. It felt a lot more like an extended movie to me than a videogame at times, although I don't believe the story would work in a movie format very well. Overall I never really felt bored during my playthrough. There was always something that had my interest, right up until the very end.
I feel like Firewatch is the kind of game that is very difficult to recommend to people, because it's difficult to predict how they would react to it. Some people love it and some people think it's boring and sucks ass. Meh. I enjoyed it so I'd recommend it.

the game looks stunning but why are the guys legs so stubby?
This is my game for the weekend, really looking forward to it.
Felt like the guy who designed the game did an awesome job but then left halfway through and they just had to try to end it as fast as possible and ended up not taking many of the things that were introduced to their ends. Definitely kept my interest the entire time but it felt like none of my decisions mattered once the end was reached. Probably not worth playing through unless you really like the aesthetic or just need a game to kill 4 hours.

for the weekend? shit man, enjoy two hours of fun and two hours of a struggle

Yeah it turned out to be my game for Friday... There weren't two hours of struggle though, I did enjoy it all the way through.

minor spoiler beware
Was pretty hyped for this game, looking at previews of the artwork.
Preorder was 18 dollars (10% discount). Game kept me interested the whole four hours of playthrough (shorter than advertised). Art style was amazing, soundtrack was awesome too. Good sense of humour throughout and few easter eggs scattered in various locations. Quite a few people complained about the ending, and in all honesty I was a bit let down as well, but thinking about it, it was realistic and didn't destroy my experience too much. Performance was decent (i5 4.2 GHz, 750Ti 2GB) and got 25+ on High to Ultra settings.
For the work they put into it and the enjoyment I got out of it, the 18 dollars is justifiable. Anymore than that would be a bit too expensive in my opinion.
Good game to kill in an afternoon or an evening, worth a grab if it's in an upcoming sale.
