Stochast1c#25, from a professional standpoint sure, but the match post on reddit has been the only match this season to get more than ~10 comments. In fact, there have been three major posts about the game. This cast penetrated the casual tf2 audience far more successfully than any cast this season, and a quick reddit search has this cast even beating out the i55 grand finals post discussions.
I suppose it is a matter of which audience does competitive tf2 wish to get into the game, but I'd argue that a rare cast that panders to the casual tf2 audience isn't a bad thing. As long as these matches don't occur more often than every 3 years I can only see these casts helping the scene grow.
I really hope we aren't trying to appeal to the Reddit audience cause if we are, we are more fucked than I thought we were

I don't mind fucking around in matches as long as both teams agree to do it, like with the Ducks vs. Mix^ match in S11(?).
Heck, it's even fun to watch a cast of if it's known beforehand it's for fun.

Hey teams in invite have the right to do w/e they want. I think each player pays like around $90 a season just to pay for league fees. Jeez... But I could see how it might be a bit annoying to the other team who also pays that same fee... and wants a simple game with typical gimmicks (not the whole gimmick play book).

why not just cast lower division games instead of obviously not close invite games...

I dont feel an active reddit thread is a valuable metric of any sort of success. The match was a shit show and broke from the norm, that's why it had a post and that's why is was commented on. Add to that the b4nny factor and that's your publicity. Nothing about it screams "whoa check out how awesome comp TF2 actually is," it's just "this thing happened that normally doesn't." There is no positive there other than the ackowledgment that comp TF2 exists, and if that's all we're looking for, then... welp.
