Anyone have any stories? Im waiting right now for my surgery.
Had all of em taken out during high school, apparently tried to sing to the nurses while under. 10/10 experience.
got em done a week ago, all 4
you dont even remember falling asleep, its really nice
however, you can't eat solid shit for a while and you have to make shitty homemade milkshakes
also you get hydrocodone which lets you be high and not feel pain so that's good

My surgery was pretty uneventful, but they had to leave stitches in there for about a week. Not being able to open your mouth all the way is something that I would definitely not recommend.
Had all of them taken out recently, but at different times (one on one day, another a few weeks after). Good to not be having that pain again
Don't fucking use a damn straw, do warm salt rinses from a day or so after (do a few a day), don't SPIT during the first few days either. Don't forget to take your meds and eat regularly and sleep lots.

I waited about 3 years longer than I should have, meaning my little sister got her's done a month before I did.
Her's were horrible and took her a month to recover. I went to a real oral surgeon for mine and only took a week off of work. Honestly mine were a great experience, falling asleep in the office was the most relaxing experience of my life and I needed the time off of work. (plus pain killers)
I did get dry socket though. That was awful. Remember to do exactly what they tell you to post op and it'll be fine.

Had a friend recently go to get them out, but the surgery went bad when something about the anesthesia made him puke, which got stuck inside his throat, and he had to get sent to an ER. Fortunately he was more than fine and he's gonna try again soon. Worst part was a bunch of us had a big questionnaire for him to answer while he was still kind of high, but now we have to wait lol.
As for me I got it done a last Christmas. The whole experience was great until they decided to reschedule my follow-up appointment 3 days later than it should have been, making that weekend one of the worst of my life as I had to wait to get the little sprayer to remove the food building up in the sockets of my mouth, making said sockets extremely painful to the point of painkillers doing absolutely nothing. So make sure you get that within a week.

Had all of them pulled out a just over a year ago, idk why but I was half awake for the entire surgery. It didn't hurt at all but I remember the order they pulled out my teeth and woke up feeling sore and not drowsy / high at all.
It's really strange feeling them pull your teeth out when you're supposed to be unconscious.

surgery itself was uneventful because i was high as fuck, but i vomited blood for quite a bit afterwards, also the anaesthetic they used intravenously made me nauseous for a while
I got mine out several years ago. You feel like you're asleep for just a few seconds, it's weird. When I woke up I started giggling, which was funny to me so I giggled at that and it just kept going from there. Everything mouth-related becomes very painful for two weeks. Make sure soup is in the premises. There will be blood.
I had the most uneventful surgery possible, everything went smoothly, didn't have any swelling, didn't say anything ridiculous after waking up, healed up after just a week. No complaints here, besides the whole can't eat solid food without pain for a few days thing.

At most dentist's offices or for very simple extractions they won't even put you under. Especially if it isn't impacted or the roots haven't taken hold yet, they basically give you a little more numbing stuff than they would for a cavity and go for it.

Got mine out four months ago. Went under completely, woke up, went home - I wasn't delirious at all, I can fully remember everything that happened afterwards and I was completely under control. The pain was horrible the first two days, even with the painkiller, but it was manageable. Everything heals completely in a few weeks. DON'T CREATE SUCTION WITH YOUR MOUTH.
Follow the directions of your doctor to the T and you should be good. I had 0 complications and I did everything I was told for about a month.

I was given a drug to relax me but not put me to sleep. I'm a really skinny dude so the dentist said I needed only one pill. I was fully conscious during the extraction, and when I asked my dentist "are you just sewing it up now?" he was like "ok you are way too awake for this wtf". My second extraction, I got no pill, just local anesthetic. It was a little more rough (I had to take a break because I felt like I was about to throw up), but it went ok too. I ended up getting an infection in this one and had to go back in to the dentist 4 or 5 times to have it looked at, get disinfectants, have it cleaned out etc. It sucks for a few weeks not being able to eat solid stuff (I ate like a kilo of apple sauce a day rofl), but just get through it, do lots of warm salt water rinses and it should be fine.
When I had mine taken out they didn't put me under, just gave me shots in my gums. I was completely awake and could feel everything... but it didn't hurt at all. It was amusing to watch the dentist basically just grab a pair of pliers and pull my teeth as hard as he could (so hard his arms were actually shaking from the strain) until they separated from my gums. Did all of them at once. Accidentally dribbled blood on my shirt on the way home because I literally couldn't feel that I had a mouthful of blood rofl.
Got mine when I was 14, they just numbed me but I could still feel like....pressure on my teeth I guess. I dunno, I healed enough to eat whatever I want in like 5 days, so meh.
I told my parents all about how beautiful the sky was when there was two suns
wow, asleep? that's not how it's done here. they just numb the side of the mouth from which they will remove the tooth/teeth, and you're awake while they remove it/them. i presume you could request to be asleep if you have a good reason, but it's not the standard.
for me it was quite a nasty experience tbh. my teeth were very stubborn and they had to crush them into pieces while they were still attached to my face. this ended up shattering the teeth and they spend ages getting out all the small shards. of course it didn't hurt while they did it, but the sound and feeling goes through your skull and it really fucking sucked.
hurt like fucking crazy for a few days after that, real proper pain despite the meds. but maybe i'm just a pussy.
i had to do it twice, because they do only 1 side of your face (to prevent you from choking on your own tongue). man i'm glad that shit is over.
but to be fair, the pain only lasted a few days. i'd rather go through that again than to be really really ill for a full week.

I think it's standard to do it asleep when they take out all 4

been over a year since i had my lower and upper right wisdom teeth removed by a dentist (not a surgeon). still have slight nerve damage on the right side of my mouth/tongue making it hard for me to taste/chew on that side. never got my left side taken out...
note that my wisdom teeth were fully grown in when i got them removed and i was only numbed during the removal...although this was probably a freak accident, i'd definitely recommend a surgeon for those who's wisdom teeth are fully grown in...

not here, unless it's changed since mine were taken out (~4 years ago). i got all 4 taken out and had to do it in 2 goes, with regular local anesthetics.

Did you not have gauze in?!?!

He means in one go. It'd be too much otherwise.

So if you choose to have anaesthesia, you have to pay?

I had 2/3 taken out by a dentist but the 3rd one was up against a nerve + at the bottom row so he said I should have a surgeon do the last one.

when I had all four removed plain the pain was almost nonexistent, biggest thing for me was being annoyed at not being able to eat normal food and having strange feeling swelling and holes in your gums
My team made me play when I still needed codine to remain comfortable.
Do not play medic while on codine.

My mom is dealing with a dry socket right now. How long did it take to recover? It's been about a week and her face is still swollen and she seems to be in immense amount of pain.
