if tf2 is too hard/difficult/complicated for the average gamer to play, think about what that says for reflex

The average "gamer" is TERRIBLE and wants instant gratification. Why do you think overwatch is as popular as it is?

1v1 is too hardcore for people its not the difficulty of the game and there's nothing in reflex your only reward for playing it is being better than someone
i haven't played it in a long time but when i played there wasnt a matchmaking system or a ladder or anything to climb so you'd basicly have to know people to get semi decent games
also you gotta stop deluding yourselves into thinking tf2 is this game with a very high skill cap tf2, tf2 isn't dead because its too hard

ok to be fair whenever i introduce tf2 to my friends i always have to go like
"oh yea change these settings cause this shit is terrible"
"enable the console"
"fps will be bad expect it"
"stock damage numbers are terrible let me install something for u"
"fov_desired should be 90"
followed by
"in game tutorials are fucking awful here's how u play these classes"
"pyro/heavy/engie/sniper/spy are specialist classes"
"play scout/soldier/demo/med"

No teammates to blame in duel.

This is an incredibly insightful and very true post tbh and I wish this could be quoted/posted elsewhere or shown to Valve or whatever. When do we get "Pick up and play" that doesn't involve having to fix/change a dozen things? When I picked up Overwatch, I didn't have to set a damn thing. It detected my graphics card, set everything up, and it was basically ready to go, no issues.

if this were the mentality why is support the least played role?

It's saddening though. What drew me into video games is practically gone these days

dota not growing? also you can hope into dota and do well thanks to matchmaking. I went 27-0 on riki on my 7th game ever it was retardedly easy

Mercyless-also you can hope into dota and do well thanks to matchmaking. I went 27-0 on riki on my 7th game ever it was retardedly easy
since it's only your 7th game i'm assuming that you have no mmr ranking, so that part is irrelevant
but also, if it's only your 7th game then your profile must be very low level, and dota matches you with players similar to that profile level afaik, so you're probably playing against players who are also very new to the game
also riki is very not hard at all, you click things and go invisible

First of all my 7th game ever was before the introduction of MMR but players still had MMR just not visible to them. So yes matchmaking is relevant. Also that was EXACTLY my point, riki is not hard therefore even casual players have options to do well in dota.
I'm not sure what point you are trying to make here.

its almost as if you were probably matched against other people with only 7 games played as is the typical way they match people up

I just wanna say I checked steam charts and dota indeed has stopped growing. I thought it was still expanding because the internationals kept getting better but evidently that is not the case.

cuz it doesnt actually help all that much. its less about being unable to aim and more about just being able to win/help despite not knowing shit. supports almost always need a decent amount of metagame knowledge to do well, and when they dont they just bait the shit out of their team and accomplish nothing. but a new player could easily pick soldier, +forward into their team, spam rockets and die and people could play off that damage.

as someone who's visiting cpma/reflex discord quite frequently i saw lots of complaints in regards of developers and how allegedly they don't know shit about keeping their own game afloat; and of course when your updates go like 'added a bunch of melee skins and two bugfixes' for a while you know its no good (hi tf2). theyve added mm recently but im afraid at this point the game is beyond salvation: quake live has much more players and offers pretty nice 'casual' arena fps experience, if you want a real challenge - play cpma
the game doesnt belong to neither of categories coz its not as sharp as cpma and doesnt have enough players to even compete with quake. [*]
i just checked, the game's all time peak is 169 jesus christ for a game that was virtually everywhere at one point these numbers are drastic. glad to see Admirable's review on top though, hi Admirable!
