I haven't had tartar, but have had Kitfo, which is ground beef marinated with butter/spices (or something to that effect). I hadn't found anything gross about it, but maybe the preparation helped.

I don't think I've ever had something at a restaurant not medium-rare. I honestly don't know how people can like something so tough. Went to Philadelphia's Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse a month ago and it was probably the best steaks and meats I've ever had in my life. You pay a premium but it's so worth experiencing it.
