So when we were doing it, 3rd was meant to be bronze and participation was meant to be a wood texture, though I think this wasn't communicated so we decided to just reuse the 3rd place medals but edit something, I'm not sure.

There's a bit of shine on the right side of the 3rd place medal, other than that there's no difference.

If you look close it is a different texture but that's not going to differentiate well on a small medal. I bet they will look reasonably different when in game. The OWL/OZF prem medals have this problem, when you see at a photo of them they look silver, but when you get into game and properly see the specular effects on them it looks platinum as intended.

I didn't think pre-ordering the soundtrack vinyl could get any better, I was wrong.

Comparing a lot of the points on the 3rd place medal vs the Participant medal it appears the 3rd Place medal is slightly lighter in color.
Checked at 5 different areas on the medals and it was fairly consistent that the RGB values for the participant were 5-10 lower than the same area on the 3rd placemedal.

Ex.
165 113 74 - 3rd Place
156 109 66 - Participant

These colors are definitely way to similar though.

Are they very simmilar but off for everyone else, or just full on identical

They look totally identical to me. It honestly doesn't even look bronze. They both just look like wooden medals rofl

If it's black, that means the images were the same there. There's a tiny bit of shine, and (possibly because of the shine) there's a difference of <10 in each RGB channel for the medal itself, like comanglia found, but it's really not enough to actually notice. The ribbons are the exact same.

Just to show what two different images would look like compared.

They're pretty much impossible to tell the difference except for the little bit of extra shine.

from bronze to participant the difference is in the shade of red and shade of blue. am i the only one that see this or just placebo in my part...
