hopefully, the future of TF2 is not ESEA. It's been shit for a long time and I feel like people have been putting up with it out of necessity.

HL has been the thorn in the side of 6's since the beginning. That idiotic game mode has attracted way more new players because it has such a low learning curve as compared to 6's.
6's is clearly the better game mode for top level play, its not even debatable. HL is really just a joke but they eat up the new player base because playing in a pub is like playing HL.
Imagine the 6's community with the HL player base folded into it. We would have several thriving divisions.
Im not about to start some kind of race war here but I resent that opinion. You have two types of players in the hl community, people like me who have fun in both formats and will play both or pyro mains etc who would never have played esea in the first place (or contributed anything useful to it if they did). Its sad to me that both formats are gonna die pointing fingers at each other because really its valve thats fucked us all over regardless of what we like to play. To be honest If you wanna point fingers at ugc it should be at the fact that they haven't killed their 6s divisions. I've been trying to tell the UGC administration to kill it forever, its the real player leech because it allows a bunch of teams to stagnate in a meaningless league instead of filling up open.

Lemme put it simply into one of two scenarios:
IF Pyro Update has balance fixes, improved mm support, crazy miracles, THEN game has fighting chance
IF Pyro Update has hats, skins, taunts, THEN game is ded
VOTE NOW ON YOUR PHONES! Oh wait... we did that last year; fuck
but real talk, pyro update seems to be our last hope unless some other miracle happens.

Moist_PenguinThe worry is that if we split the community in NA between multiple leagues it contributes even more to the decline rather than help.
that's why if a move were to happen, it would have to be a complete movement and not a separatist-type movement

Gimme a fucking break - the circlejerk 6s community dug its own grave years ago with it's closed mindedness and lack of support for new ideas. Newer players didn't like the game you created - period. All the casts, kmart esea lans, comp guides, noob mixes, et al did little because the format itself was unsustainable. The only thing that kept it going as long as it did was UGC and the explosive growth of highlander. If someone had the balls to seriously merge the formats into prolander and not shat on everyone elses efforts and blamed UGC for your own failures you might have gotten a couple more years out of it.
Lange worked up a great deal for all you kids at CEVO after bitgate and you shat on his efforts and stuck with a bunch of crooks over a kmart LAN for the circlejerk. Now Sigafoo (dont even know him) is the only one of you that has the balls to put his money where his mouth is and try to keep the game going and bridge the gap between 6s failures and HL's popularity. But guess what? Your all shitting on him as well.
GG boys and girls glad I left at the peak and enormous success at UGC :)

I don't think highlander prejudiced the 6s community in any way because HL players pretty much all fit into these categories:
- People who also play 6s
- People who main offclasses and therefore have no place in 6s
More on topic, I've been amazed for quite some time that NA players put up with a paid league with fairly high fees for a game as small as TF2, especially since ESEA lans died. I think newer and more casual players are much more likely to join a free league run by the community like we have in EU - to give my example, I'm not much of a 6s guy but I've played 4 seasons in ETF2L open, which I probably wouldn't have if I had to pay for it.
ESEA was cool when the game was bigger but I feel it might be too much now.

Oh shit Infinite is back!
The only good thing about this game is community, that's all there is. UGC for all its criticism, even from myself over the years is one of the few places that with it's community has kept this game alive competitively, without community leagues this game is dead. ESEA may have given people a place to play to win prizes and go to LANs, but it's had 60 teams for about 5 years, community keeps this game alive, nothing else. It makes me laugh how people think HL or UGC is bad for the game, it's just fucking hilarious how dumb people here are, thinking this game isn't about anything other than about community.
And Kumori doesn't appear to have done any worse than anyone else has in TF2, since UGC is still the biggest league around. All I hear is a couple of "Platinum" players bitch about 2 or 3 controversial unlocks and something about removing Gold. So disagreeing with a whitelist and removing a Tier, and suddenly this person is DRIVING THE LEAGUE INTO THE GROUND? I think you need to explain point by point, exactly what's wrong with Kumori cos I find the hate really hard to understand. When I see videos by people criticizing admin decisions using Nazi's, I think it says everything you need to know about who is winning the argument and who is worth listening to.

OK first, infinite is partially right. The 6s circlejerk is still closeminded. The slow death of this game doesn't make them think that 6s is the problem? "No it's just HL it's easier for noobs." Ok, while that is true have we not thought about simple economics/psychology here??? It's pretty easy to grasp. HL is more appealing to the newer player (so yea it's easier for noobs, I'll give you guys that) but that doesn't mean it should be outlawed. So if HL is in more demand, has more players, (although it is mostly F2P, which contributes a lot) then why do we keep supporting 6s when it has less players, less demand, and the only serious league is a pay-to-play league right now and everything else is basically viewed as a joke (besides PREM in EU). It just doesn't make sense at all, 6s is killing the game it's quite simple. BY HAVING 2 GAME FORMATS IS THE SAME AS HAVING CEVO AND ESEA. Literally it is splitting the community apart. If people really cared about this game THAT much they would say fuck esea and just go play UGC or some HL league. I'm sure if some good players talked to Forn they could easily work something out to create a prize pool. No offense infinite tho u weren't the greatest admin and an asshole sometimes. sorry bud :(

i'll preface this by saying i enjoy hl (mostly sniper) as much as the next person, but honestly anyone who thinks competitive tf2 is declining because of the close-minded 6s players is beyond delusional and you should never respond to them with more than one sentence lmfao holy shit
