"playing with slice was like the final nail in the coffin jeez" - muffled voice to protect identity
dishsoapyou see u tryna say that but...
9:13 PM - ebsikl: Megaboy and i left because we werent having fun
this kinda shows that u bail at the first time u want to bail. you got a sponsor and completely fucked him over because u couldnt commit, just like differ said that year ago. like, you shouldnt bail bc ur not having fun because you lost 1 GAME (ps. ur 3-1), thats an extreme amount of disrespect to jarlow that he honestly shouldnt be getting from anybody. hes supporting our small game and ur kinda throwing away this golden opportunity he gave you. if i were you id try to fix things up with slicerouge this moment.
might not wanna play that link game nigga.

Lowkey J4vs team is easily the best we've played. At least in scrims they've given us a harder time than popo and yuices team.

maybe if you guys didnt pussy out for the one time you lost, this game would still be growing. this season is the most sponsors ive seen in any division, and you have the nerve to actually kill a team that is lucky enough to get one? consider what they are doing for the community and then what you are doing when you leave a team for the 6th time
Tino_Anyone that knows the scene did tbh.
and this is what bothers me most after looking at the esea tf2 scene from an outsiders standpoint.
Theres something up with team culture in esea tf2. I've looked at other games and its really not normal for every roster except for b4nny and randos teams to be brand new every season. why is it normal to just make a new roster and try again if your sandbag team comes in second place? why not just make a team with people you enjoy playing with?
After starting to work with Faint and with Kredible and Hobin i've learned a lot about business and about publicity. An org wants to build a team, and we want to work with a team so that they can be known as the guys that work with us. Tf2 isnt the only team in our org. Our vainglory team recently left the scene but they were damn good, and around for no short time. Same goes for our CSGO team. So why is it that our tf2 teams are the ones that are making things difficult for us? From what i can tell the scene adores what we do, and we made invite playoffs last season to boot. I shouldnt have to come home from work and wonder whether or not our team is going to be playing tonight, or whether or not our team is even alive. It's ridiculous and makes it really hard as an org to justify sponsoring a team if its just going to fall apart week 1.
Now this isnt me shittalking the Faint roster. or either of them. What they do is their business. What i have a problem with is the way that ESEA tf2 treats teams, and who they do or dont want to play with.

My team tried to get sponsored by faint and I made it very clear we were friends who have played together for 2-3 seasons with no chance of dying, and they picked slicerouges team because it had bigger names.

I don't think many people create teams expecting them to die after one season- most people aim high with teams and its pretty clear when they don't care and just want to play "just because" or to sandbag.
Personally I think that one of the reason tf2 teams often don't stick together is because of the mechanical emphasis in the game. It has two effects where because the game has lots of mechanical emphasis, players on teams will improve in noticeably different rates at least in regards to mechanical skill (however the same can occur in other ways if players demo review a fuck ton but its not as common). High mechanical skill in this game also gives you a bit of a "fudge factor" where you can play higher level games without as much (to an extent) gamesense- the gamesense players wouldve gotten playing with that team they just left. These two things combine to contribute a lot towards players leaving for greener pastures and throwing away a lot of prospective multi-season teams.
Another thing worth mentioning is that esea tf2 has gotten so small that everybody knows EVERYBODY relevant to their skill level, and circlejerking / friend-dynamics changing can impact teams substantially when the player counts are as low as they are.
Finally, I think that the whole concept of "there isn't a reason to cut to the top in this game because the monetary reward isn't there" is kind of a double edged sword. Because the monetary risk doesn't exist, taking risks with teams is encouraged in a roundabout way. Combine that with a lot of players who only play out of sometimes close-to-obsession with blind drives to improve no matter what, and you have a game that does a lot to facilitate the kind of slot machine teams seen so often.
WackyfireballIs the only Faint team not dead the sigafoo league team?
In technicality the rgl season hasn't started yet so it is an unfair comparison, but I think it would be rather hard for us to die considering rgl is treated a match-only league.

faint chose us over Mu's team and the sparklegang. they didn't pick us for the bigger names i can assure you.
update. Stock will probably be reviving the team. The roster is not disclosed yet but it looks like he has a roster in mind and is communicating with them. On another note Change and I have both contacted Kredible to provide fees back. Change is paying his back and I'm paying mine in addition to kohly and bwelp's league fee that was payed(they didn't pay for their premium). Jeff was already payed for when he joined making megaboy/ebsikl's fees the only real losses. I don't know if they intend on paying back or not but we are doing what we can.

Another part of the issue is many many teams run into the "hard talk" wall at some point, and people are not invested enough in Tf2 to actually sit down and have a real talk about shit and figure it out without feeling attacked or rage quitting the team because people called them out on shit, so it becomes easier to kill the team after a season and do the same thing again 3 months later.

the best part is when those same people have giant egos, so an IM team dies and all 6 players look for invite offers or something

(NIV) Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. . . And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

I think its fairly simple in both cases. Faint decided to back the wrong horses.
Without going into specifics and trash talking people, there were obvious red flags from the very start with both teams.

In all honesty, you can only blame the player when its the first or maybe 2nd time it has happened. Once it is a known issue for several seasons, I blame the team leaders for allowing them to join the roster.
Off the top of my head right now, there are at least 5 examples of players no team should ever want to pickup and trust. As someone said, its a small community so mostly everyone should know the repeat offenders. If team leaders chose to ignore history they roll the dice with such players every season. Its just a shame it happened to a sponsored team this time around.
