EssentialsTF June NA Monthly Announcement

This is a concise version of the Announcement which can be found here.

The Essentials EU Monthly has been delayed, but it will all be worth it as we are proud to announce the public release of our tournament system. The system is still in development and not perfect, but it is usable. It will be used for the NA Monthly taking place on 9th-10th June.

Currently, the system allows you to log in with steam and start a team, invite other players, keep that team maintained for future monthlies and sign up for monthlies with the click of a button. Please be aware that the name you choose upon first logging in can only be changed on approval and will be the name used in-game once future features are added.

Planned features include:

  • Automatic server creation for matches (no more having to find your own servers)
  • Automatic result collection and tournament advancing
  • Ranking for player and team lists based on monthlies, LANs, and potentially other events

The Swiss stage is now shorter, only allowing 45 mins per stage, after player feedback.

This month we have banned the Machina due to the bonus damage making it clearly a straight upgrade to stock, was there no extra damage we would consider it again as having to be scoped could be considered an appropriate downgrade for shot penetration. We have also added Cardinal to the map pool as we believe it is in good shape to be played in a competitive setting.

We are planning to run test matches with top level player mixes for at least a couple of Wednesdays a month to try out potential new weapons for the whitelist. If you are a high-level player wanting to play in these please get in contact with us via Discord. Dates for these will be announced on twitter closer to the time.

Sign up for the NA Monthly here.

with the new site implementation i finally dont have to spend 5 hours converting steam3IDs into steamID64s for alias configs!

sidenote for those of you who cant read and didnt put steamID64s for the old tournaments: you ruined my life for 3-4 months

Console-with the new site implementation i finally dont have to spend 5 hours converting steam3IDs into steamID64s for alias configs!

You know that any version of the steamid can be used for the nickname overrides, right? SteamID3 with or without brackets, STEAM_ and the 64 one all work.

So what exactly does 45 minutes per round mean? If a game starts with only 20 minutes before the next round, is it just a 20 minute game?

MenachemSo what exactly does 45 minutes per round mean? If a game starts with only 20 minutes before the next round, is it just a 20 minute game?

If you play a full 30 minute match, there'll only be 15 minutes until the next round of Swiss games is generated. You'll just have less downtime between rounds, which is good and bad for a 5 round Swiss ordeal. They will wait until all matches conclude before going to the next round, but if it takes 25 minutes to start a game, ya got problems.

Adding on to this, unless there is a legitimate reason why a match cannot be completed in the allotted time, any late results will not be accepted and will be considered a draw. That being said, I do understand that there is an avenue for that rule to be abused with teams purposely delaying to try and get a better result. During the monthly at any time, if you believe that your opponent is doing this, contact an Admin and your match will default in your favor. If neither team makes an effort to complete the match in the allotted timeframe, your match will be considered a draw. This will be added to the rules in writing.

I do understand that Cardinal may not be everyone's favorite map right now, but we will be experimenting with different maps throughout the Season in preparation for i63. To help us make informed decisions on our map pool, we would appreciate feedback from this month's tournaments. Your feedback will influence what maps and whitelists we run for that event so we are actively listening to any and all suggestions that players may have. As well as that, if you have any constructive feedback on the Map itself please do so in the appropriate thread.

Quick bump to the post to remind players they don't have long to sign up for the Tournament. We still need at least 16 Teams to run a monthly. You don't have long to get your teams registered! Make sure you have at least 6 members in your team before you try to sign up.
