#NotMyWhitelist
AnaThonI don't understand why b4nny's (or whoever else is for unbanning all sorts of weird shit) opinion weighs so much tbh. Seems to me that he's representing a minority of the community yet every season weird garbage gets unbanned which makes people mad. Like don't let him decide this stuff and it for yourself. These threads that always cry "NoW tHeRe WiLl Be A tF2 mAjOr FoR sUrE LOL!!!" after the fact seem pretty much useless.
I've not been in an invite meeting in a long time, but the ones I participated in were not run well. Tri gives a little introduction of what he wants to talk about, then b4nny gives his itinerary. Then b4nny just runs the meeting and talks louder than anyone else. He'll generally say what he wants to be done, someone will disagree, he'll give more reasons for his decision, then say that it has been decided they're going with his idea. Usually people disagreeing are told they aren't thinking about the greater interest of TF2 and the points they bring up aren't actually taken at value

how delusional do you have to be to think this game is ever going to be something bigger than it is now
its 10 years old and dying slowly, just let the vast majority of the community enjoy the game before it completely disappears

Kinda glad I waited to post cause a lot of what I wanted to talk about already got posted.
The population of the "invite meeting" was heavily skewed because there a number of people there to specifically talk about unlocks having tested them. That likely already skews the opinion of people in that group because people who want to unban weapons are more likely to test them. After that there were at most one or two players from each team. BUT
Keep in mind the invite meeting in purely to help tri make decisions, none of those players actually have any direct power except for tri.
also I, once again, didn't know about the invite meeting until literally as it was happening (on the sunday before christmas)
It was my understanding that things were unbanned with the intention that people would abuse them over the next two weeks so they could be banned if they were broken. The fact that the whitelist pugs were held up as true proof of the weapons potential is laughable but two weeks is still not enough time to test weapons. It took people more than two weeks for stuff like the loose cannon or quick fix. Only once in my life I've actually gotten 6 people on the same page about how the direct hit functions to the point where the weapon was viable.
bonk is inherently unfun similar to cow mangler / dhit. No matter how little these items affect the game the fact that they negatively affect the game and that not a lot of people really want to play with them ( the people that do are the people that abuse them ) probably means they should be banned.
while I haven't personally tested it, it sounded like steak sandvich can open up heavy to mid on some maps for lower level teams which will be absolutely cancer for those players while having "no effect on top level play"
solemn vow is the only weapon that was genuinely interesting of the ones suggested but the people who suggested unbanning it acted like it didn't do anything even though this weapon can let you do awesome stuff should you learn how to use it properly. ultimately, it's going to give medic more control over the game, which i'm not opposed to at all. At its worst it's going to force people to be more aware of when they're building badly during a fight.
I still don't understand the "let's unban things because unbanning things = good" mentality. When I've asked why a few people have been unable to provide real reasoning beyond "unbanning things is good." A few people have mentioned that valve will be more willing to help the comp scene which I don't believe at all. There is no evidence to support this in my mind. At this point, valve doesn't really even support the pub scene. They release some new hats every month and sometimes release a map or something to keep people happy and like once a year they make new contracts for people.
Other people have said that unbanning more weapons will open the game up to more pubbers which is also probably not true. People don't play the game because of 1 weapon that they specifically want to use and if they did, they're probably the weapons that break the game beyond belief that we'll never unban.
I'm not really a fan of this process or most of these weapons (or what they do to the game)
It really feels like there is a staunch, stubborn few individuals that are forcing these changes upon us for reasons that a lot of people see invalid and a lot of the reasoning they're using is logically flawed and they don't seem to acknowledge that even when it's pointed out.
If you want the items to stay unbanned my advice is to abuse the shit out of them over the next two weeks and then complain a metric fuckton in a way tri can see (tftv works)

But that's just my opinion, and we don't need to fill up another thread with hypothetical hearsay and fearmongering.

fun isn't something one considers when balancing the universe
Wackyfireballfun isn't something one considers when balancing the universe
good thing we're balancing a small community game that we all play for fun instead of the universe

if these items get unbanned I am NOT playing next season
tf2 will never become a huge esport it will only fluctuate(and decline),idk why some people are still delusional that unbanning some items will make it go huge
unban vaccinator = gabe will give us 100000000000 $ major how can you not see that
merry chrismas phone your local representative to impeach b4nny (nobody voted for him anyway)

what if you replace 1 soldier with demo?
imagine having to watch for 16 sticks, imagine having to watch for 28 if they are on scottish resistance
you can legit sticky every entrance with 2 demos
what a godawful idea

its really delusional to think that unbanning weapons or changing the 6s format to fit the valve MM in tf2 will make this game blow up into an A tier esport
bonk is unfun
scout doesnt need to jump 7 times because he has a sodacan gun
the solemn vow sounds pretty interesting though
realistically, we should all just try and enjoy this game while we can; its 10 years old after all

hahaha yes guys lets cater to the greater good but also only balance around "invite level" tf2
let's also completely disregard the idea (jarrett's i think?) for a community vote to see what everyone wants solely as a reference point
haha yues guyhs we are geting 1 milion doler major becuase scout bonk hahaha

This game is very old and stale, and changing the whitelist isnt going to magically make the game more fun. Also don't have a tiny group of people dictate what weapons we use, just go back to how things were and stop changing the whitelist. Make one whitelist where it bans all the obviously broken ass shit and stuff thats been banned forever, and move. on. Don't change the whitelist ever again. This is honestly dumb.
**Can i just have all the aids weapons banned so i can play this game in peace while it slowly dies. **

b4nny: unbanning all unlocks will grow comp
also b4nny: comp should be 5cp only
also b4nny: comp should be 5cp only
I'm super confused. I think everyone kind of agreed that solemn vow was benign. And for all the other weapons where there was contention I thought the invite teams just agreed to test them over the coming weeks of preseason. I don't understand why people are acting like this is final. There are still weeks of testing that are going to happen. Nothing is said and done. Even tri said if there was a particularly contentious debate over an item he would make a poll for people. I get that everyones Jimmie's are rustled but just contribute to the play testing in the off season and if you are still sure that it is broken please give examples, tell us why it was broken in that situation. I think all of these weapons should not be unbanned based off of 45 minutes of pugs but can we just try test this shit and then if you think it's shit give constructive feedback.
Edit: if I misunderstood and the whitelist is finalized I'd be pissed as well

Just pure whinging about how the Man (bad open players who DARE to not want bonk) are keeping your dreams of a decade old game resurging in popularity and going through a competitive renaissance down, despite the reality being that nobody really gives a shit about tf2 and even the tf2 players don't give a shit about 6s, or any other kind of competitive gaming for that matter
But you can rest easy, safe in the knowledge that if it were up to you tf2 would be a great esport and you'd be in a sick gaming house with bare fans. It's just unreasonable for the bulk of tf2 players to NOT inconvenience themselves so that you may be graced with an extra 40 dollars, and I can't believe they'd do such a thing. But it's ok, after all, there was never any option to perhaps play a more likely esport so there's nothing that can be done at this point other than to go for a solid cope and moan on twitter
Happy holidays :-D
