ETF2L Premiership. A land of ancient tales and fables, promising international fame and success to whoever can raise to the top of the food chain – but also one unforgiving place, known to digest anyone not strong enough.

Recently, a cartload of monkeys calling themselves MONGI MODE gained access to this mystical place, but despite some initial strong showings, the toe-obsessed primates have elected to drop out of the season. Some have returned to the safer jungles of lower divisions, while others have been snatched away by scavenging Prem teams.

On paper, MONGI MODE certainly looked to be an interesting project, with some up-and coming players like toemas and Matthes (who had finished 7th at Insomnia 63 with Timed_Out) being guided by experienced players like Joseph and Swi. They looked very promising in the Qualifiers, being the first team to go through, and without losing a single map to boot. Their good form carried over in week 1, where they barely lost 5-4 to Ascent.EU on Snakewater. SVIFT disposed of them quickly the following week, but they managed to rally and beat veu crever afterwards. Sadly, their defeat at the hands of Faint Gaming last week seemed to be the last straw, and they opted to call it quits.

Team leader Joseph was able to go more in detail as to what caused the downfall of the team, according to him:

Basically: straight after playoffs torrit went away for a week, we had really good results during that week whilst playing with different medics. torrit came back just before the Ascent official, which was very close on snake. We got our hopes up during this week he was away/official. we then got giga rolled by SVIFT the next week and it tilted people. People on the team wanted to cut torrit but I gave him a second chance. it took us a while to get out of this rut as torrit was playing pretty bad but he started to perform ok. Some people still weren't too happy with torrit and general team morale had gone down since the official vs SVIFT. We started to get it back together, getting some decent results in scrims however we were still, in the eyes of our players, underperforming, especially when compared to the week we played without torrit. We then lost our Gullywash official narrowly to Faint, which in my opinion is a decent result. Most of the team seemed to shared my view that the narrow loss was a good performance and everything seemed fine. A few hours after the official toemas hits us with an "I want to leave the team" followed by torrit saying "if toemas leaves i leave".

I was a bit taken aback by this as was the rest of the team. I then get a message off torrit the next morning saying "I'm now maincalling or toe leaves". Now this is something I 100% wasn't prepared to try. A few hours that day before scrims were spent discussing what should happen etc. I basically told torrit that he had a dogshit understanding of the game so why would I let him maincall. In my eyes the problem has been our medic, as shown by getting decent results in the week we played without torrit. That night toemas and torrit decided to try to strong arm the team off me, try torrit maincalling and play with a different demoman. Needless to say they underperformed vs veu crever in a scrim and wanted to fold the team. However, Matthes, Opti and Swi weren't happy with this and wanted to keep it together so I got control of the team back. But alas, Matt got an offer from Faint so it’s gg game over
