Over 10 years ago ESEA Launched our first season of the TF2 Open league. Since then thousands of players have enjoyed competing at a higher level in what is one of the more unusual esports games that has set the tone for more recent titles like Overwatch.
In the last 10 years the ESEA TF2 League has:
Ran 29 League seasons spanning 10+ years
Hosted 14 LAN events featuring TF2
Awarded nearly $400,000 in prize money
Recently, we’ve tried adding new features and adjusting formats including adding vetoes, removing the League fee for the Open division, selling external sponsorships and significantly modifying the prize distributions. Despite this, the number of players making the jump to competitive TF2 is lower than ever. For the last several seasons ESEA has continually contributed significantly more to the TF2 prize pool than what is naturally generated by the League fees. Without the community support as TF2 now features under 1% of our ESEA player base (despite almost $45,000 in prizes each year) it no longer makes sense for ESEA to operate given that the same resources invested into CS:GO will affect vastly more players.
As a result, ESEA League Season 31 will be the last season of the TF2 League. Anyone who has taken part in a TF2 match at any stage of their ESEA career will be awarded an ESEA profile badge indicating so at the end of this season.
We would like to thank the TF2 community for their support over the last 10 years.

best scenarios i can think of:
- drastically reduce prize money
- RGL starts up a 6s league with proper rulesets in order to capitalize of death of esea

Honestly this could be a good thing maybe, Now we can fully commit to a new league where it might bring better opportunities/environment to your average player. Still it kinda is sad to see an era of 10+ years of tf2 comp to come to an end
highfivefuck dude
Please win.
