We all play ESL now. This could actually end up being good for TF2.

what makes you think a new league will alleviate the problems that plagued the ESEA league for so long? if the most popular competitive gaming platform can't keep TF2 alive, i doubt much else will
A big reason we never considered a traditional sixes tf2 league was that there was no reason for it. ESEA had the paid side, UGC had the free side. With the collapse of ESEA, it's definitely something that we're strongly considering.
Just because I don't care for sixes myself, doesn't mean we can't have someone run it who does. Honestly, I'm pretty indifferent on HL nowadays, and so that's a league I don't run. It's mostly run with a passionate staff on its own and does exceptionally well for itself. I've already been contacted by some very eager players who have already tossed their hat into the ring. Definitely keep your eye out for us in this coming fall.

I have no statistics to prove it but I’d actually be surprised if ESL was smaller than ESEA, going off all the cs ive been watching and most of it being ESL, you rarely see stuff for esea cs unless it’s MDL or advanced league

Mitch_Hi all, ESL here.
We're aware that this has occurred, there was no communication about it between the two parties but we will anticipate to provide North Americans a service after ESEA Season 31.
Please make sure to watch on TFTV for upcoming announcements.
If this happens then you're literally doing gods work.
If not, then whether something else rises out of the ashes or we are left as relics of the game's past, in the end it was a great fucking run.

More people who give a fuck
As helpful as tri (Killing in the past as well) and other select admins have been, the fact is theres only ever been less than one handful of people who worked for ESEA that gave a fuck about TF2.

most people don't play this game for the services ESEA gives us, anticheat literally does not function, the servers are bad, long history of bad DDOS protection, and I can't imagine very many players at all really play for the prize money. Lan mattered more, but we lost that a long time ago. ESEA is a business, and their goal is to make money. If they believe that TF2 isn't making them money, which they apparently did, they'll drop the game, while a community driven league just does this for their love of the game.

Can we not do ESL? It seems like going to another payed league is just kicking the can down the road. I feel like we need a permanent solution in the form of a comunity league. Our best bet would be to piggyback on ETF2L (NATF2L) as part of a greater International TF2L.

why are you assuming this is paid? We haven't even announced our plans.
Edit: I won't lie though it's likely on the cards if we want a prize pool. But our requirements are better than ESEA's was.
