#80 RIP CROSSBOW in TF2 General Discussion
bscSo we're complaining that the crossbow received a straight upgrade on October 29, and then tweaked to reasonable degree 2 days later?

it's still received a buff at the end of the day and it's still worth using over overdose at this point.

A reasonable degree on paper, but in practice it's less useful. Clutch heals/damage are the selling point for the crossbow's use over needles, and they just nerfed it. The crossbow was exciting because it allowed the Medic to make a real contribution to the fight without pulling him away from his left clicking duties for too long. But now that contribution has been subdued significantly, and the feeling is gone. All this to presumably reign in Medic's damage output, even though there's an equally functional alternate solution that doesn't ruin the weapon at its core.

bscwareyaSo what you're saying is, everyone else is really stupid but that's just like your opinion man?
his opinion is right

I disagree. The nature of the weapon makes burst damage/healing more valuable than damage/healing over time. If they wanted to nerf the weapon they should have reverted the reload speed to 3 seconds, and kept the passive reload and damage the same. This way it's self defense capabilities are still limited and it can still have a real impact on team fights instead of being a single random spam projectile.

welp it does ~25 damage to close range targets. back to needles. I don't understand this at all

#31 The Winger in TF2 General Discussion

Most of those jumps could be done with one winger jump, and the ones that can't take an extra fraction of a second to find a prop to manage it. It doesn't really change much for 6s. Still best for jumping around crates on granary. Way more satisfying to use though.

#54 Path of Exile in Other Games
Kaneco32hzDid you think TL2 was complex? The skill tree is definitely much more simplified but the game itself was a lot more fun to me since the begining, everything from the art style, to the characters itself, skills and mobs. Also like the way the inventory, items and weapons etc were handled more on TL2 than on path of exhile.

I know in the end these are 2 pretty different games, but I was so hyped for this game for the past few weeks/months and now that I just played it I just felt turned off by it.

Don't take this the wrong way, but TL2 (which I also enjoy a lot) is a lot more casual than PoE. It's simpler, which means you get lots of flashy and effective moves right from the get go. PoE is about earning effective moves through long term planning and building. Cleave isn't too exciting when you get it. Neither are traps or twin arrow or any spells on their own. But dominating blow gets a lot more exciting when you give it AoE and other buffs so that every time you slam the ground you create a small army of minions. But you won't be doing that until way higher levels.

Try watching some streams of big PoE players. It's really interesting to watch advanced players using no life builds or other unusual things that I can't think of right now. It depends on how much you like ARPGs. If you're really into them then PoE is about as deep as they go, but it's a lot of work to start seeing things that you might see in TL2 or D3. But it's so worth the effort to see a build come together endgame.

#10 Thread about ESEA PUGs on the ESEA Forums in TF2 General Discussion
DevonPhraktureIf there's a free pug system why would someone pay for a different pug system that essentially provides the exact same service?
one of the reasons is because most of the people are already premium because they're on teams

But they can't play with people who don't have premium. More people more pugs

#11 Smash Brothers Documentary in Off Topic

This is really awesome. I've always admired the smash community for how they've helped the game grow. It's one thing for a perpetually updated online game like TF2 to grow a competitive community, but a whole new level for a real life community to come together across states and continents to bring Melee to the level it's achieved.

#35 TF2 Stream Viewership in TF2 General Discussion

Why do you care about the numbers individuals pull? That's more to do with how entertaining they are not what they're playing. What matter are the numbers our sponsored shout casts pull. And they pull four to five times more than they did a bit over a year ago. I don't think we're doing bad at all.

#215 Why do so many people bash 9v9? in TF2 General Discussion
LKincheloeOkay, this is going downhill fast...

Change of subject: Does the lack of a monetary prize pool for NA Highlander encourage or discourage the perception of it being a second-tier scene in relation to NA 6s?

I wouldn't say it directly contributes to perception but no prize pool means nobody takes it as seriously.

The more I read this thread the more I blame UGC for casualizing the entire format. The fact that the invite limit existed/exists still blows my mind. The league literally banned teams from being too good by using rosters from an entirely unaffiliated league. And just because that ban no longer applies to platinum doesn't make the rule any less absurd. Does UGC not possess a system for tracking players and teams so that the admins can make the final call for their division? Because that's one of the responsibilities of any league.
