sacjust take it as an opportunity to practice your french :) the more horribly pronounced gibberish you'll say, the more eager they will be to respond, becuase a lot of silence becomes of being shy or unable to communicate well in english. Not everyone is as easily fluent in a non native language. If they straight up ignore you though, thats something else.
The problem is that English is generally accepted as a universal language, while something like french/german/spanish etc. might not be as commonly spoken outside of countries where the language is native. If everyone in the pug speaks english, but let's say 4 people speak french, why should the 2 people who know no french have to suffer?

unplug your display/plug it in somewhere else on your gpu/plug your cable in somewhere else on your monitor?
I am using dual link DVI. the RX 470 (and VG248QE for that matter) only have one dual link DVI port. I don't have a working display port cable and VG248QE doesn't use HDMI 2.x, so I can't run 144hz over HDMI.
