Looking forward to it! Will help out however I can, even if it's just telling people to check it out.

overwatch competitive searching is nearly flawless, it always puts you with evenly stacked teams and actively avoi-
JanSGNmIs nobody bothered by the fact they've changed the icon to hl2 one? Or is this just a bug on my side?
http://i.imgur.com/alG9oKN.png
It's definitely a bug, but not on your side. Everyone seems to have the same result. I'd wager HL2 logo is just the default source engine program icon, and they did something to accidentally revert it to that.
it's funny when you think about it because in a sensical world a chainlink fence would block nothing, but in TF2's engine it actually is an indestructible bullet shield
drshdwpuppetWhen so far all we know they did is remove the word "beta", open it up to everyone and add a 12v12 mode, yeah thats a queue modification.
Idk, maybe I feel differently about all this than most people, but I've never tried to hide my opinion that matchmaking isn't going to save this game, this competitive community, in any way. Certainly not in its current form."Valve's game" is not a competitive game in any way, some people probably have fun fucking around with 6 engi strats or double medic double demo strats, but that isn't a recipe for interesting or dynamic competitive games.
I am afraid that releasing matchmaking now, with no (yet announced?) balance changes or dramatic weapon changes or class limits will severely limit how seriously matchmaking is taken by anyone. And we can say "well the goal is to just get them to think about joining competitive", well how will the average person know about our community, how will more interested and skilled people looking for their next competitive game join in, play a couple games of mm, decide it fucking sucks and is basically shit all around and then decide to stick around long enough to find out about us?
Just disappointed in the direction of TF2 lately and this update isn't helping.
You aren't acknowledging the fact that a competitive environment doesn't exist to the general TF2 public right now. People who just launch the game and play. The beta exists, but you have to jump through several hurdles to enter them, current weapon balancing doesn't mesh well with the format, you have to enter the group, and there's not many easy to reach sources on how it should be played (to the player who is just entering a queue).
By creating a competitive environment, they're generating interest in the 6s format, which can lead to (small at first) tournament sponsors by valve (creating exposure for leagues), which if successful can grow the scene and the game. You're so focused on what the game is now, and not what it can be. Valve wants to fix their weapons, rejuvenate the game. Even if that means something as basic as adding Valve's game 6s.
drshdwpuppetso wait...
we get a queue modification, 4 taunts, and some crates?
and to think people were excited.
A little early to be making assumptions before we even see patch notes, wouldn't you agree? Rebalances are a given. We could very well recieve a new voice codec and other modifications..

what does he mean
This is the main reason i think instead of it being a general war it will very specifically have heavy/pyro focus. b4nny speaks as though he's familiar with the pyrovheavy leak, which would imply that it is indeed the intention
infinitypls allow dx8 in MM :c
it's a decade and a half old, i agree the game NEEDS optimization but it isn't worth it for valve to drag on compatibility for something people shouldn't even have to be relying on
tiptoesHighclassGood lord. Watching this guy's twitch apology almost hurts. He genuinely believes that he's a major persona in the TF2 community, comparing himself to B4nny and shit. Poor guy is straight up delusional. 17k subscribers and 100 viewers on twitch have gone right to his head.
This guy added me just to ask if he can join my plat HL roster, and when I asked for his exp he stated that he is popular on twitch and showed me a roster exp in which he only roster rided/backed up on. When I said no to him I saw he added like 3 other plat HL leaders just to ask if he can join their roster. Pretty weird guy.
holy shit this is gold. rob literally accused me of using my youtube channel to roster ride decent teams less than a few weeks ago, now he's doing exactly that
GoofyGorillathe first story is pretty crazy considering your team died preseason iirc
that's what I found funny, i wasn't even technecially in plat since DAT is on hiatus after winning silver. I'm pretty sure rob just lurked my ugc and saw i was rostered without actually checking the teams status

shoot me if i ever make it this far
rob once spent an hour beefing on me for "joining plat by manipulating social ladders" and convinced his entire twitch chat to talk down to me like i was a 10 year old
he went dead silent when i told him about how I was rostered with them since silver.. Then he tried to pull the depression card and shift blame saying "people like you and dane ignore my friend request because you think you're too important for me"
i wouldn't trust anything the guy says honestly.
I have another story about him, too. My old HL team faced him and won pretty easily. A while later, a FUNKe Impersonator (whom I have zero affiliation with) sent rob a trade offer of a really cheap coffin skin revolver and a trade description of something along the lines of "this is still worth more than your skill level". Rob didn't actually check the profile of who sent the offer, and assumed it was actually me. He started telling people what I had done, and contacted my team leader about how he could report it and get us disqualified. my team laughed their ass off cause they thought I actually did it, but we had to tell rob it was a faker and that he didn't even double check who sent the offer. Rob went and looked and immediately tried to apologize. I appreciate him feeling bad, but he doesn't seem to learn to triple-think things before he does them.
PendjiOn-topic: I never understood how people just completely ditch Steam. It's even an app at this point. How can you spend money, time and more than 300 nights in a game and then just entirely abandon it, never going back just once a year?
It's all situational to the individual, a lot of people switch over to overwatch but still use steam as their friend hub despite not playing other steamgames much, what you're referring to sounds like people who downright stop frequenting steam all together in which case their friends probably have contact a different way (mumble/discord etc) so they don't need to visit steam unless it's someone out of their inner circle needs to contact them which at that point is low priority
As for abandoning a game they've put mountains of time into, it's easy to get sucked into something else. When you get jaded on the same game after so long there's not much to go back to once you're out of competitive tf2. Major updates are scarce and pubs are arguably stale after a while of playing them, it's just logical to enjoy treating a new game as your main hobby if you enjoy it more
Enterimfunke was a fine host except for his silly voices when reading the list of teams rostered up. I felt that was very unnecessary.
sorry. If i host again i'll refrain from unnecessary stuff like that, I was just 20 minutes into outtakes without pausing so i trailed off a bit.
