Clever. Anyone who clicks on skin related links might as well be put in a zoo anyway, but thanks for the heads up.

#49 Do you think anybody could be the best at TF2? in TF2 General Discussion

There are hard limits to your training capability and your biological makeup influences this just as much as it influences other sports, physical or otherwise. By training you are engaging in an act of refining your biology, that's what it fundamentally is. In the case of physical sports you enhance muscle and stamina; in the case of mental sports you reorganize neural pathways in the brain.

The neurological training is not some mysterious amorphous mist that can magically be molded into whatever you'd like. It's a very real, very physical thing observable in the way of neuron connection. As you engage in mental activities your neural composition physically begins to shift and morph, but bound to certain restrictions. You can think of it as your Operation System, in which you can program and code new software but you are still fundamentally locked down to that OS.

I for one have significantly lower reaction times than most people I've played together with. Whereas they easily hit sub 200 ms reaction times I struggled to hit 250ms. Was it my 60 Hz monitor? Was it latency in showing the image or the mouse click? Was I just mysteriously tired or undisciplined every time I tried to do the test? Maybe, but would a change of setup improve things significantly? It's important to focus on the consistency.

I don't believe that people are capable of all hitting the same reaction time benchmarks consistently. Sounds kinda dumb to think that everybody is capable of being perfectly equal in that regard. You don't need to introduce cripples or sick people to observe discernible variances. This became obvious to me years ago when I taught a friend how to play competitive TF2 and in his first season he was playing two whole divisions higher than where I was.

The same logic applies to all other things. When a player has the optimal abilities straight off the bat we call this "talent", as though they tapped into some Heavenly secret or something. They didn't, they're just better by definition. It is those players/athletes/competitors who, together with rigorous disciplined training, make it to the world stages.

There is a fallacy in disregarding the biological argument, for it presupposes that all shortcomings are chalked down to purely lack of discipline, lack of training, lack of proper mindset, etc. But show me someone who's been dicking around in the competitive scene for 5000+ hours with no success only to then one day become magically good by "discipline" alone. It's far more common to witness these two subgroups: talented people who rise very fast and soon make it to the top and slow risers who eventually hit some kind of plateau and never advance further.

#19 favorite map theme? in Map Discussion

Goldrush/Dustbowl/Well/Badlands/Gravelpit. I want maps to look the way TF2 was intended to feel instead of looking at novel new ways of standing out. At an underlying level there reaches a point where the new art visions begin to feel kinda wrong (Cardinal is one example). Things should also make sense. You need houses, warehouses, complexes, silos, missiles and the so on, not randomly placed bits of geometry. It ought to be grounded in the reality and logic of the TF2 universe.

TF2 is wacky, but it follows its own structural logic. Many such cases where this is neglected.

#10 Question about veganism in The Dumpster

1) Vegan morality when it comes to the suffering of sentient life cannot be argued against, they are correct in that regard.

I just eat meat because I really don't care about the suffering of animals. I don't need some science motivated excuse to release me of the guilty conscience of eating something that was once alive and felt pain. I just don't feel like it, period.

2) Veganism accomplishes nothing for the environment. A lifetime of veganism cannot offset even a fraction of the damage a single 747 flight causes. It's better for the environment to skip a single 747 flight than it is to spend your entire mortal life without touching meat.

Conversely if you depend on a science motivated excuse to project to yourself some air of environmental importance and of doing good on the world then there's far more efficient means to go about it. Being seriously politically active on imposing laws that undermine and bankrupt the meat industry will do far more for the environment than preachy Facebooktivism, but no one's really that committed, are they?

At the end of the day it's just means of virtue signalling with the (sub?)conscious attempt at social leverage. They, even if they refuse to admit it, merely want to be perceived in a good light. Nothing else.

truktrukSure there's a fair bit of vegans that are annoyingly passionate about their lifestyle and diet but it's hard to argue against what they stand for. I completely agree with why someone would go vegan but I am against people antagonizing everyone that doesn't have the same ethics. It's a bit ironic that some people that shit on vegans are doing the exact same thing the annoying vegans are doing.

Normies gonna normie. In much of the same coin you'll have people praising their meat-eating as some epic pwnage to vegans. Nothing more than social masturbation to validate their position among their group, a classic "us vs them" shitflinging contest that gets tiring the millionth time you witness it.

It's all so very exhausting.

#9 Doomsday comp tf2 video in Videos

Thank you for putting my grumpy cynicism into calm eloquent words. The game attracted emotional investment and seeing it be mishandled with such uncaring negligence does bring a little bit of pain - a pain that deserves to be spoken of.

#25 Eminem dropped Kamikaze without telling anyone in Music, Movies, TV
WandumSeinfeldat least euros understand what music sounds likedid someone who likes eminem hurt you or something
i dont personally like his music that much either but youre clearly overcompensating for something

To be fair given the international importance and advertisement of Eurovision we inevitably end up embarrassing ourselves pretty damn hard over the commercialized pop shit that gets force-fed to the cattle masses. It's gotten to the point where the term Eurobeat has been coined. At least American-made commercialized pop shit sounds better.

Modernity is kind of a shit show. Take me home.

#44 Any good alternatives for TF2Center? in The Dumpster
Afsrongoldot_rongoledinMASTERNOOB IS A PAKI :Dwhy does that matter
why is this thinly veiled racism getting upfragged
are u new here b
is that supposed to justify calling someone a paki?
Did i miss something ? How is calling someone by their nationality racism ?

"Pakistani" is the neutral term but the short form "Paki" is normally used in the West as a derogatory term. For example: Japan in Japanese is "Nippon" but the shortening "Nip" is also used in a derogatory manner.

#23 Eminem dropped Kamikaze without telling anyone in Music, Movies, TV
wrualbums bad, hooks are atrocious, the staccato flow is nauseating, his '''''''''shots'''''''' are extremely lame, safe and disrespectful for absolutely no reason

funny how the biggest hip-hop act in the history of the genre can be so insecure and salty over people not liking a literal shit album that he has to put out Damage Control: The Album where he pulls his weight but still sounds bad, all of that is not even one full year since the release, such a disgrace for someone who was one of my favorite rappers like 15 years ago

Best post in the thread.

I have no idea what to make of this. It feels wrong.

glasseventually it'll just be war talking to himself in an empty room

Making snide comments at the wall and arguing with the echo of his voice as he descends further and further down into madness.

Police said they found him convulsing on the floor yelling the words "airshot" and "fat".
