#21 Easy way of finding scrims in TF2 General Discussion

Some of the text is too small to comfortable read (Stuff under Latest Teams and Users, Priority tags)

I'm also not a fan of having the huge soldier picture on the front page.. it makes it awkward to go back and forth between the home page and anything else imo. It looks nice, so I like that it's there, but I'd vote to remove it. Maybe have it shrink a second after load... dunno.

Otherwise looks good.

#37 ESEA Invite: Classic Mixup vs. Exertus eSports in Events
hanbrolothe way maidos typed that gave me herpes but he's right about one thing: the euro tf.tv vods are always up the same night as the cast (+/- 8 hours) while the wood pig/street hoops game from tuesday night isn't even up on youtube yet.

is there any way for people not associated with tf.tv to help upload them more quickly? or rather, can i help? i can't watch them on twitch (i literally left it buffering for 3 hours and could only watch 5 minutes on low quality before it needed to buffer again, at which point i gave up) and i know this and the street hoops/wood pig were good games.

I've had the same thoughts for awhile. The fact that euro.tf.tv does it means it's possible.. so what's holding na.tf.tv back? Staffing? If so, get a volunteer. Etc.

#10 Twitch Adds Stream-Bombing Mode in Off Topic
HyceThis could be really cool and help strengthen our community I think. Waiting for a match to start on the teamfortress.tv stream? Play another good TF2 stream while you wait. Could be pretty cool.

Would have been pretty useful last night. Poor getawhale was stuck talking to himself for a few minutes before the IM match.

GetawhaleYeah let's all read the article first guys. The views go to the hosted stream - that's mentioned twice on the posted link.

This is not stream bombing. It's intended to be a community thing. If you have dozens or hundreds or whatever number of people in your chat and you don't want to send them on their way when you're done streaming, the intention here is you can keep them all chatting and communicating while they watch another stream.

Pretty interesting feature. I've used it already twice. We'll see how it evolves.
erkstonsounds like views go to the hosted channel. so it's basically just viewing a different stream while keeping a separate chat, can't really stream bomb that way

Yeah, guess I didn't fully process this.

However, I'm going to assume there's a way to write a chatbot that allows your stream viewers to write in the chat of the hosted stream.

Either way, a cool and useful feature.

Might be nice to have a 24/7 stream of nature shots or something, so I can have non-boring intermission content.

Or if there's a way to detect if someone is hosting your stream on theirs, you can have your content change. Maybe each time someone connects, you reveal another part of a story or something.

Anyway, lots of creative possibilities.

#3 Scout movement POVs in Q/A Help

I know he's not the most popular, but Ruwin had some solid 1v1 scout DM tips when he was starting to become an active streamer.

I also find youmustmikes demo reviews super helpful. Watch just the scout ones, or all of them if you want to round out your game (you should).

#1 Auto-Select Category For New Thread in Site Discussion

If I'm looking at the Site Discussion category of the forums, and I click new thread, it would have "Site Discussion" filled in as the category of the post.

Not sure if this is something other people expect to happen, but I'm always thrown off that it doesn't.

#22 dorm room internet in TF2 General Discussion

At WPI I get 200-400down/200-300 up. Good enough to host a server if you're so inclined.

Capped at 10 GB/day and 50/week.

So yeah it varies from school to school.

You should be glad people managed to take a thread as bad as this originally was and make it even marginally interesting.

#48 i52 Media Coverage in TF2 General Discussion

Let's take the current WC as an example. Here's what we have access to as viewers:
1: Cast of the match with commentary
2: Cast of the match with no commentary (tactical cam)
3: Live highlights
4: Post-game, half-time, pre-game review and talk shows
5: Blogs
6: Live twitter updates during the match (player scored, player got a card, etc.)
7: Facebook updates similar to the twitter updates
8: A live updated app
9: Google live update of scores and stats
10: Live update discussion boards like reddit
11: Post-game interviews
12: When there aren't games going on, they'll have a review show with highlights every once in a while, interspersed with scenes from Brazil and other content to show what it's like to actually be at the WC.

Here's what we have on most casts:
1, 2 (STV), sort of 4, 5 occasionally (write-ups), 10 sort of (discussion in twitch chat if you want to call it that), 11

Here's what we can have:
1: Duh
2: Duh
3: Not feasible
4: There was a previous ESEA Lan where Blank would come in at half-time and do some analysis. This could easily be done fully!
5: Not really a point, it's a 2-3 day event.
6: Seems pretty easy. Some players already do it sometimes.. but not fully and not with a standard format.
7,8,9: Probably no point
10: Open a thread for each match on tf.tv and/or reddit (good way to get new people involved) and encourage discussion during the game. Great way to pass boring stalemates!
11: It's been done at i49, keep it up, if you have more staff it's easier to do one for each match.
12: This is what we're really missing, as Tagg's said. During downtime have him walk around and talk to players, have pre-scheduled 1-on-1 interviews with star players, or just follow around a group of players as they have fun at LAN. Twitter is a good way to get pictures out during matches... but during downtime we can have live footage on stream, which is so much better.

#555 World Cup in Off Topic
wheatchampionDon't want to rain on your parade, America, but fair is fair: you got outplayed last night. You were basically out of the game the entire time, but your goalie kept you in it until the end. Let's not pretend you guys preformed amazing last night, you got outclassed, simple as. Nevertheless I have to admit your world cup run was really impressive, especially considering the team you have "on paper". I hope last nights game inspired a lot of Americans to give football a shot and the thought of the USA focusing more on football is a pretty scary one in my opinion. WE'RE COMING FOR YOU NEXT ARGENTINA

For sure. You played better against us than Germany and Portugal.

Also props to your team for generally being class acts. De Bruyne immediately ran over to Jones (playing with a broken nose) after the ball he kicked hit his face. The time wasting at the end was far less than expected / normal (although still present).

I'll be rooting for Belgium going forward... so long as they play Januzaj. I just want to say his name.

#28 tf2mix.com new tf2 website in TF2 General Discussion
drakThere doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the name, and I'm sure people will know what's being referred to. Nothing wrong with writing # in front, or stating that the web client is the intended one.

Your service seems well made. Do you know when it'll start rolling out to testers?

HK has great suggestions as well, and you seem to want to make a great service. Please take this to the point of near-perfection, as the demands aren't unreasonable to meet, and the potential of success is very high. Best of luck!

It's possible I'm pretty far off the mark, as I haven't looked at the site / video (will once home).

I have some other ideas as well:
-A publicly facing calendar for my team. If another team wants to scrim us, they can look at our calendar. "Hey, this team scrims regularly on Tuesdays 8-10 PM EST! Let me book that time with them." I then get a steam message that links me to the scrim request, or maybe a steam message from the leader of the other team.

-If a scrim is agreed to on the site, a connect string is posted and/or auto-sent to team members.

-Integrated ringer finder. If I know I don't have anything scheduled on a given night, I can log on with my Steam, and set my player status to Ringer. My player profile will have my UGC, ESEA, CEVO level, as well as any additional information I provide (preferred classes, playstyle). Captains of a team that need a ringer can perform a query based on the class needed, time needed, and skill level.

-Comments on player and team profiles. It would be nice to know if a given player was a good or bad ringer, or whether the team you just scrimmed off-classed the whole time.

There are some other things I've wanted that I've forgotten, I'm sure they'll come back in time :)

#23 tf2mix.com new tf2 website in TF2 General Discussion

tf2scrim.com is available... are you concerned that using the American term would prevent Euros from using it?

You could have tf2mix.com just redirect to tf2scrim.com. Or better yet, register tf2mix.someEuroDomain and then have it redirect. Or have tf2scrim.com redirect to the European one.

There's probably no way to make both parties completely happy when they've decided to use the same word to mean different things.

Also is this on github / are you looking for devs? I'd like to try and add an interface to the scrim IRC (if people still use it).

I haven't watched the video (at work), so I apologize if this is answered...
Can users send a scrim request broadcast to their friends list, or a subset of their friendslist? As a captain, I'd like to be able to give the site a list of my friends who are captains of teams that I want to scrim, then I can have it auto-send a scrim request directly to them via a Steam message.
