radiumKBlairI like golf.
What's your scoring average right now? I'm around 88-92 (bogey golf, basically). I've always loved golfing.

18HCP, I'm lucky to get under 100 most times. I would be a lot better if I could drive straight and far (its one or the other for me) and if I could putt well. My pitching/chipping is the only redeemable thing about my game.

Very fun event, glad I went. Thanks to everyone behind the scenes who worked their ass off this weekend.

#5 Headset Suggestions in Hardware

I have a Plantronics GameCom 780 and I like it a lot more than my old headset, the Logitech G930.

A company that deals w/ headsets for call centers can make a good surround sound headset, who knew.

technosexI just realized I never got a ticket to print out or anything. How do we prove registration when we get to the LAN?

I asked this on another page, apparently they don't need anything but printing the confirmation e-mail helps.

#8 TF2 Crashing in Q/A Help

I'm pretty stumped. Btw that "Attempt to set particle collection <particle> to invalid orientation matrix" error is because of viewmodel_fov 0. If you use viewmodel_fov -360 the errors go away and it still disables the beam/bullet tracers, but I doubt that's the reason you're crashing.

I guess the only thing left for me to say is to enable crashdumps and send one to valve when it happens.

SizzlingCalamariA solution to get all dumps is:

1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting
2. Create a new key called 'LocalDumps'
3. Your crash dumps will be here: %LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps

Other things to try: mat_queue_mode 0 and mat_hdr_level 0. It might be annoying running without multicore rendering but it causes crashes sometimes, and it would be good thing to single it out.

TheFragileYes, this is all true, but you can't come in at 9 AM (or at all) unless you have SOME kind of pass. If you have literally no kind of pass, you can't come in.

Do we need to print these passes or the confirmation e-mail out? I'm looking around the GXL site and I can't find where to print a pass.

#5 Mumble not working in Q/A Help

Configure -> Settings, check "Advanced" on the bottom left, click Apply. Click "Audio Output" on left panel, and find the "Device" drop-down, and drop it down to the device you want to hear mumble comms from, and hit Apply.

To change Default device in Windows:
Control Panel -> Hardware & Sound -> Manage audio devices
Under "Playback" tab, find the output device you are currently using. Hint: run a Youtube video in the background and watch for the green bars to pop up and down.
Select it, click "Set Default," click OK.

#3 TF2 Crashing in Q/A Help

If you put '-condebug' as a launch option you'll get a copy of your console output in your tf folder as 'console.log.' If you do that and post the contents, I'll be able to help you better.

As for random crashes, in my experience it's almost always something with hardware and more specifically, memory. Run Memtest86+ overnight and let me know if any errors show up.

radiumDumb question. I own a regular gaming ticket, and I will arrive up north around 1-2 pm on Friday. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't I need an early entry pass to actually set my things up?

iirc they let the people with a regular lan ticket set up at noon on Friday.

#4 Powerline networking in Hardware

Powerline networking is extremely dependent on the condition of the wiring in your house. If you have a super old house and every outlet is just replaced with GFCI instead of a rewire it's probably going to be garbage, otherwise it's worth a shot and is usually better than playing on wireless.
