#1 Comp.tf launches Patreon Campaign! in TF2 General Discussion

Hey guys,

I'm launching a Patreon campaign for those who wish to support my work on the Comp.tf Youtube Channel.

I really love editing tf2 videos but it's a huge time investment for me, for example each Play of the Day video takes on average 3-5 hours to produce, the Pro Tip series video took something like 30 hours initially to produce and the i55 and Challengers Cup Teasers took something like 20-30 hours each to produce as well.

I'm currently studying in college while working a part-time job to pay the bills so it's really difficult for me to find time to edit all these which is why I created the Patreon campaign so you can support me while getting some cool perks in return. The ultimate goal here is to be able to completely replace my part-time job with editing work but I deeply appreciate any amount of support you can give.

Patreon Page: https://www.patreon.com/comptf
Announcement Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRTTSQtt3PU

Please note that this campaign is to support my work on the comptf channel, the Play of the Day series, Pro Tip series, Map showcase series among others, like the teaser videos I worked on for i55 or the challengers cup. Recently shounic joined the comptf team where he will be producing the recently announced backcap series, but this campaign at the moment is to support my work only, depending on how it works out we might try in the future to either implement his work for the channel into this patreon campaign or create a specific one for his series.

man, tf2 has decent lore names for ranks why would they go with the most generic names ever. tf2playerrankings is decent at that.

#12 TF2 update for 11/9/15 (11/10/15 UTC) in TF2 General Discussion

I dont use anything out of the ordinary. I don't even use dx8. Pretty much the only thing that messes up with the game and could tick off VAC is the mumble overlay.

Really a huge issue, I was forced to play all pcws today on an alt because I got the VAC error 3 times in like 2 hours.

you could theoretically parse some info from stv demos, but afaik there's currently no way to do it. You really need the .log file

I know they're all beast players and having Mike is kinda unfair but damn they're pretty confident about playing with no heals

indecencythe301stspartanWat, did they just reveal reaper before the game even launched?
Lmao Blizzard, what are you doing?
Also agree, the skins could be terribly confusing once there are more heroes in the game. They're not as identifiable as tf2 characters. Maybe they'll be optionally deactivateable clientside.

its been well known reaper has been in the game for a while?

I think he means revealing reaper as in revealing his true identity. It seems such a poor move tbh, even before launch... The character itself was really cool for his misterious silhouette, mask, etc... Also a skin which totally changes the silhouette and the character itself is horrible, specially regarding competitive.

ScrewballpopcorpThey need to make more class tutorials.I would really like to see some basic explosive jumping tutorials added (something like what QL has). Maybe some MGE style videos made by top players in the competitive community accessible though the main menu.

Im on it :D but yeah, would be good to have something more official. Altough that doesn't seem likely atm. But If the series takes off I can try reaching out to them.

#30 backcap in TF2 General Discussion

Hey all, I loved this video so much I personally reached out to Shounic, he'll be joining the Comp.tf team and will be producing this series for our channel, this gives it much more exposure as our channel has a bigger following and also helps us keep pumping more content regularly for all of you so I think it's a win-win situation for everyone.

Shounic will be producing this series for the channel on his own, this will be a mutual partnership, and I think we just need to iron out some stuff from the feedback received and to adapt to our channel and we will be good to go for the next one. There's great feedback on this thread and after a long talk with him I think we can improve on it a lot and give it a more "professional" feel for the channel.

He expressed me his biggest concern was the time spent going through all the vods and finding the moments / highlights so I would like to know if anyone would be interested in helping out with that? I'll probably set up a slack for the channel and wiki this weekend (been meaning to do that for some time) and we can add up people interested in helping out for this weekly series.

the301stspartanWhy would you not pay 40$ for a multiplayer game that can (potentially) give you tens of thousands of hours worth of gameplay as opposed to paying 60-70 for a 30 hour singleplayer game?

As hallow said. Life is hard these days around here. Specially for college students. I have pretty much no disposable income, what I make is to pay the bills and the occasional night out. The last game I bought full price was Cities Skylines which was 30€ and has insane replay value (also because I was a huge fan of SC4). And even that I didn't spend money on, I literally sold a CSGO sticker for 30€ I didn't know I had in my backpack and bought the game. There's no way I would blindly drop $40 on a game that is multiplayer only. Specially when I've invested so much time into tf2 which is totally free.

Also I can't see the competitive scene of it taking of is the entry price is $40, and that would be one of the main reasons for me to get it. All the biggest competitive scenes in gaming right now are from f2p or low entry fee games (csgo). The only big competitive game I can remember which has a big entry price is starcraft, and that scene has been declining hard past couple years.

Also this coupled with the more than certain introduction of microtransactions (which you can already see in the pre-order skins) just turns me off completely. I mean, you either sell the entire game for full price with no bullshit attached or you have a f2p game with micro transactions, both is incredibly greedy and set a horrible precedent.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Overwatch/comments/3rpjnl/i_just_spent_30_minutes_at_gamestop_talking_to_a/

It was posted something here but was now removed by the subreddit mods.

Basically it said that the "collectors edition" aka origin edition would be $60 for a physical copy and include all that stuff like skins + poster and access to future betas, while the normal game would be $40 full price for pre-order. It included a screen for a receipt as well.

Obviously nothing is confirmed but seeing as it got removed from the mods so quickly it's kinda suspicious it might be true

Honestly if this game has a $40 entry price with microtransations later on then it's doomed from the start. When you have dozens of f2p shooters out there (like tf2) and the most played fps in the world (CSGO) at $10 then this game doesn't seem to cut it.

I was eager to try it but I'm not paying $40 for a multiplayer only fps. Still hoping it's announced as f2p or with a very low entry fee. But if its not, Im still happy, good news for tf2.
