#8 New Mic Please in TF2 General Discussion

For using a 3rd party clip-on microphone with headphones, you really only have two choices:

Zalman Mic-1 is kinda crappy and quiet, but it works. You get what you pay for.
Antlion ModMic is better in every way, but substantially more expensive. Again, you get what you pay for.

#1 Found this neat service in Off Topic

http://guildbit.com/

Looks like they offer free temporary Mumble servers you can deploy on-demand. Most teams probably already have their own servers, but if you don't, this might come in handy.

MuerteSomewhat off-topic, but regarding Seagate...

I've got 2 x 2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD's which I use for a combination of games (besides the most played; LoL and TF2), (some) applications and mostly storage. One the said drives I've had for 2 + years without fault and I recently purchased the second. So far, I'm yet to have any issues.

Is there anything in particular that people have problems with when it comes to Seagate drives? Something I should look out for as 'warning signs'? Or is it just a general lack of read/write speed in comparison with WD drives?

Take it as you will. You may or may not be able to extrapolate this across all products, but this is more empirical evidence than anyone else has on the issue.

Se4nExactly my point. Headphones/sets tend to become uncomfortable for me after long sessions of wearing them, unfortunately. I'll check out the Snowball/Yetti mics, thanks.

This is why I only own circumaural headphones (which sit around your ears), instead of the less comfortable (in my opinion) supra-aural style. Never had a comfort problem with them.

#5 DVD to USB on Mac? in Off Topic
GTSBYEither follow the guide here -> https://kb.iu.edu/d/bciz
Or dual boot windows through bootcamp onto your mac,a nd then just do it normally.

I don't think putting the .iso onto the USB will work, as it's never worked for me, but you might have better luck.

Putting a disk image file on a USB drive 100% will not work. You need to follow the steps to reformat your drive and make it bootable. Make sure you don't have any files you want on it before you do that, of course.

ExquisiteStoneI'd recommend buying a good SSD for OS/GAMES and important files, and just buy the cheapest 1 or 2TB hardrive you can get for the rest of your files you download (movies, not important games)

Cheapest non-Seagate drive*

#963 MAJOR TF2 update for 6/18/14 (6/19/14, Love & War) in TF2 General Discussion
ExquisiteStoneDavidTheWinRadmanMaybe youre just used to the high amounts of damage you used to be able to deal before, and anything less is just not cutting it? In that case, its just a matter of getting adjusted.
I think 90% of the posts in this thread have shown it's not just a matter of getting adjusted.
Mainly because 80% of the anti-nerf post are yours.

How anyone could read this thread and come away with the overall impression that the sticky nerf was a good thing is beyond me.

#4 Luxury/Sport Cars in Off Topic

Honestly, if you can afford the up-front cost and the increased maintenance, 6+ year old BMWs are surprisingly affordable, lots of fun to drive, and a lot more reliable than most luxury cars (I'm looking at you Range Rovers & Jaguars). The real protip to owning one is to find yourself a good mechanic and NOT go to the dealer. I know a reputable mechanic in my area who will charge half of what a dealer wants for brakes.

reillyI've been looking to get headphones that I can take travelling (on trains, etc.)
I currently have Sennheiser HD558's, how do these compare in sound? Also, are these sturdy enough to be squished into a backpack?

If you already have good headphones, why not get a pair of IEMs for on the go instead? They're much more portable and better at isolating noise.

#49 Add IRC to your TF2 in Customization

Yep, motd_entries only contains a single entry for the latest news item and the back/forward buttons are hosed. Considering this functionality has been untouched for years, the only reasonable explanation is that they're intentionally screwing us over with this change.

You can still do the modification, but only for a single newsitem. Well, it was nice while it lasted.

DontubermeA small patch just hit. Tide turner refills charge on impact kills.

Does valve actually base all their weapon changes off star's videos? Suddenly everything makes sense.
