This makes me wish Pirates, Vikings, and Knights was still a thing. Both mods bear something of a family resemblance.

Hasssassinget your friends and stack, 5-0, 2 mins, my crew does that shit on the daily
why would you tell anyone this
If he plays the game 1/10 as well as he watches streams, open had better watch out.
omniSo this is my motd_entries(snip)
I've got 2 entries so I can click through and pick the one I want to use. However, if I add a third entry, it will not appear. Only the first 2 entries will appear.
Any ideas why, anybody?
I just tested this and it turns out you can't have more than 2 entries at exactly the same "post_time". Put the times of each successive entry with different timestamps (increment the seconds/days/whatever by 1 for each post) to make it work, like so:
"motd_entries"
{
"last_request_time" "2099-05-05 21:40:25"
"last_request_language" "english"
"1"
{
"post_time" "2014-05-05 00:00:01"
"title_english" "Custom Links"
"text_english" "Test"
"url" "javascript:window.location.assign('http://tf2center.com');
window.open('http://irc.lc/gamesurge/tf2mix/', 'tf2mix');
window.open('http://irc.lc/geeksirc/tf2.pug.na', 'pugna');"

I hate to be "that guy", but people who suddenly come into large sums of money (especially lotto winners) almost always ruin their lives with bad money management and end up worse than before. I hope there's somebody who's able to help this guy with his financial decisions so he's able to keep his life on track.
ghettogrocerybaghi can someone that is in CS add me to answer some questions?
Add me if you still have questions.
KohakuEnglish major, honours, Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick.
I'll be finishing my degree soon but I'm considering getting another one instead of going ahead and doing my master's, something STEM. Physics, probably, until someone convinces me otherwise. I have a bachelor apartment in downtown Sackville now, and against all odds considering I'm a piece of filthy weeaboo trash got a wonderful girlfriend--it seems I'm going to have fun at school for once.
If you want to get a STEM master's for the purpose of it helping you get a job, it'll need to be something in an area of engineering. Pure physics/math/biology/chemistry/etc degrees are only good if you want to either teach that stuff or have an extra field to put on your McDonalds application. No disrespect to physics majors (since its a very difficult subject for me), but that's just the state of the job market right now.
If you really like physics, engineering is positively ripe with physics and math.
Please keep in mind we just discovered this yesterday and are working hard to make it presentable. Ideally we'll soon either have a collection of files you can drop-in without fiddling inside the files, or if there's enough demand I'll make an installer that will generate and install the file for you.
Note to advanced users: Anything you put in the second pair of quotes after "url" will be sent to the URL bar of the Steam overlay when you click the button. What we're doing here is putting "javascript:
" to tell the browser to execute the link as javascript. Another neat trick is that you can put "steam://connect/[ip]" and clicking the link will connect you to a server.
Have fun.
My singleplayer gaming experience consists of local aim & jump maps, lol
ghettoI don't mean any disrespect at all, but this seems kinda useless at the moment I mean it definitely has the potential to be a 3rd party staple to tf2, like chris's configs or something you tell somebody is new to tf2 that they have to get ,but it seems too premature to release at the moment
I agree, which is why we were hesitant to tell anyone about this in the first place. I want to make it clear that the purpose of this thread is more to tell people that this exists and we're working on improving it (and we're definitely open to input from people who are able to advance this proof of concept).
Otherwise, hang tight, we have a few other ideas in the works that might end up being more practical for everyday use.
VetosThis is amazing, thank you Sezco and co.
I've got a question though. Say I start up TF2, join a pug, close the windows and play. Is there some way to reopen those windows later ingame, or would I just have to restart TF2?
In your console type:
map cp_cloak;wait 2000;disconnect;
This will initiate the process for re-opening the windows. You could technically make this a bind if you so desired.
sky_does this have any negative affects on game performance?
Launching your game will take a few seconds longer, in order to load & close the map to pop out the windows. These windows are persistent on screen when you join a server and will need to be manually closed. Other than that, no.
Another vague thread about something somebody said once with no context, just what the doctor ordered.
