Gunboats are not a game-changing unlock because you can go around speedshotting and treating things like a jump map.
They're a game-changing unlock because they make every normal rocket-jump far less damaging, letting you jump without being tethered to a medic and letting you move around the map more quickly. It's not an unlock that you have to be skillful to use.
I would expect all the prem teams and top high teams to sign up at the very least, as they have a great chance at getting into the top 8 and proving themselves for the next cup even if they don't win.

Yeah I agree the timing is a little tight. However there are 4 cups, so even if you can't attend the first then there are more, and we have to finish a month before DHS so that teams can organise their travel/accommodation. I only just finished finalising everything after 2 months or so of liaising with orgs etc, it's tight.
KanecoExcellent news! But a bit apprehensive about the sponsor, no link in the article, the site is a single placeholder image, no info anywhere, don't know who's involved... If you're going in with a 4k € sponsorship (which is bigger than all the previous etf2l seasons for example) I would expect something more to show, even if it was to know the organization itself.
TFCups have already given me the money for their half of the sponsorship, the guy behind it wanted to donate anonymously. No issues at all with legitimacy, don't worry.

This seems like madness unless there are either huge advertising opportunities and orgs are interested, or there are financial reasons to play as well. It's like one of those tournaments from 2000.

Not a large stage, definitely not. But possibly a large booth within the exhibition area with the teams raised up, I'm not sure. Details like these still remain to be hashed out.
