#14 Making tf2 look nicer without dropping frames in Customization
sage78CRTs are like free and they give better quality colors than 90% of modern screens
also they accept any low resolution you throw at em without making it look as bad as a non-native resolution looks on modern displays

What about eye strain? I looked at CRTs previously and people say they cause a lot of eye strain, and I can feel it with my regular monitor already.

#12 Making tf2 look nicer without dropping frames in Customization
foszstabbyHighest quality textures (mat_picmip -1) give equal or superior frames. Most GPU-based settings like anti-aliasing and filtering won't give any gains by disabling or reducing quality either--you can try boosting whatever settings in your graphics driver suite to max and see how it goes without taking much of a hit, since TF2 is CPU-bottlenecked at almost all settings.

Remember to benchmark with timedemo after each tweak if you care to measure their impact objectively :)

hmm for some reason when i use mat_picmip -1 (i usually use 2) my game stutter like really alot, do you know anything about this? thx

edit : i have a toaster pc

Probably because it puts more strain on the graphics card instead of the cpu and if you dont have a gpu then unless if you can spare the cpu you just loose frames

murkscribeApparently when smoking marijuana people senses and pleasure are heightened and you get alot of pleasure when having sex with your mate because of the lighting and the mood, though it does not affect the orgasm, I've heard. So get some weed and make your monitor brighter, and it'll make your game look good :DDDDDDD

Mecha_CopGet a crt monitor if you play on a low res because it makes the game seem way less pixelatedpanda106buy computer with good specs

Due to life situations I can't get better hardware right now but christmas is looming...

#1 Making tf2 look nicer without dropping frames in Customization

Hey guys I like me games to look juicy but unfortunately my toaster does not. What are some cheeky things I can do to to make my game look nicer that don't cause me to drop too many frames.

#3966 HUD editing: short questions, quick answers in Customization
FalkinghammerNot a particularly short question, but I don't have someone actively on to message.

I drew a grey box in huddemomanpipes.res and hudobjectivetimepanel.res. The problem is the boxes show up when they shouldn't.
Problem Pictures
Box Code (I change the label for each of box)

I probably just need a lesson on what the field name exactly does.
Thank you in advance.

Put the box in the pipespresentpanel and nopipespresent panel if you only want it so show up with sticks. As far as I can tell fieldname is what the game thinks that the thing is called but the name at the top is what hudanimations refers to. If you keep them the same you won't have any problems

For the box on the round timer in casual put if_match as a field like this:

	"BGFrame"
	{
		"ControlName"			"EditablePanel"
		"fieldName"				"BGFrame"
		"xpos"					"cs-0.5"
		"ypos"					"-10"
		"zpos"					"0"
		"wide"					"367"
		"tall"					"34"
		"visible"				"0"
		"proportionaltoaparent"	"1"
		"border"				"DarkestPanel"

		if_match
		{
			"visible"				"0"
		}
	}

The stuff for casual + comp goes into if_match and it overrides the other stuff but is not in effect in casual

#12 Tf2 hand temperature in TF2 General Discussion

Warm hands in a cold environment are better.

Sweaty hands/forearms are horrible.

Submerge your hands in hot water for a few minutes then dry them quick before they cool down
