Why would you buy a gaming mouse that is inherently flawed in the first place?

wareya#18:
Nothing perfect, but there's some general stuff I learned from people studying quake and tf aimbots (humanized ones)
- Inhuman consistency (keeps doing the same things with the same level of success, no overall variation)
[that is, if they keep landing the same kinds of twitches and twitch the same way all the time. if they never have highlights or bad skill moments. if they always do really well right when they're gonna get fucked over. just examples of the underlying idea. this is an extremely specific underlying concept and I just want to make sure people know I'm not saying "they always do well".]
- *Extremely* high accuracy in general with really really really really bad movement
- Perfect tracking
- Crosshair following extremely subtle movements on the target all the time which a legitimate player wouldn't consistently be able to focus on
- Constant sub-100ms reflexes (really hard to tell because of how lag compensation works in spectating. be wary of isolated instances because real people can have special prediction.)
obviously anything that can identify a hack w/ visual testing is iffy, and different things are worse or better at telling and depending on the person doing the test different methods can be essentially subjective.
When someone is using a naive/simple aimbot though it's just fucking blatant.
Thanks for the reply, but most of that stuff I have deduced from playing the game, but that's a really good summary.
I'm more curious about things that (however small and difficult to see) are visible, physically inherent of hacks. I think there are things that you can see when someone is trigger botting, like small twitches in the viewmodel/crosshair, but that's mostly anecdotal. But you know what I mean right?
Or, is the line between intelligent/sophisticated hacks and cheap blatant ones very thin? For instance, if someone is using a very sophisticated hack, is it nearly impossible to discern that they are truly hacking? I'm pretty sure it's very difficult to discern hacks while in spectate, and a POV is much more reliable, right?
Let's use the demo from #3 as an example. I watched it, and I'd be lying if I said I can tell he's hacking.
Can anyone tell me what exactly to look for when watching a demo or spectating someone who is hacking? Sometimes it's very obvious, but often I have a hard time noticing. I'd like to be able to understand this better though. I just watched the peppers demo and I honestly couldn't see anything that made it obvious he was hacking. What exactly should I be looking for? I slowed down the demo, turned on viewmodels and bullet tracers. only thing I did notice was sometimes it looked like his crosshair was making very subtle, stuttery left-right movements.
apacusually what dpi do I need?
800 is more than enough for most resolutions. 1600 is def more than plenty for any resolution. I like 800.
sonnyjaboyHeya Crespi. I have to agree with you as well. Am using a G500 atm and god damn that thumb button is perfect. It's conviently placed and I always use that buttton for something.
Although I might need to pick up a FK or G400s soon enough due to Logitech personally contacting me about the G500 no longer being supported and such.
Anyways, very acceptable customer service. <3
That just means they don't have the g500 in stock to give you. Now, they [should] give you a g500s.
GrImpartialThink of when you flick your wrist without moving your entire arm. Where the sensor is will affect the accel.
Please read my post.
As a long time g500 user who recently switched to the g400, please allow me to give some input.
I bought my g500 a year and a half ago. The mouse I had before it was a deathadder. My reason to leaving the deathadder was simply that it was too small for my hands.
I loved my g500 for the longest time. But over time, I grew tired of the weight of the mouse (heavy, even without any of the weights), and the positioning of the sensor as mentioned before.
About the placement of the sensor and its alleged cause of acceleration.
The g500 indeed has really weird placement of the sensor. If you tend to use your wrist for a lot of mouse movement, your left and right movements are greatly exaggerated compared to mice which have the sensor placed in the center of the mouse.
However, this does NOT induce positive acceleration. The flaw of acceleration with the g500 is indeed present, but this is an inherent flaw in the actual sensor itself. Mouse acceleration is a result of electronic/software design, it is not a physical entity that can be blamed by where the sensor is placed on the mouse.
Like I said, the sensor location on the g500 is definitely strange and causes certain mouse movements to be exaggerated, but it is not the direct cause of accel, it is the sensor itself that does this.
All that said, I'm now a g400s user. I've had it for 3 days now, and I'm already certain, without a doubt, that I made the right choice to switch to the g400s.
A little secret. The only honest reason I waited so long to ditch the g500, is because of the amazing extra thumb button. The g500 has a button that sits between mouse4 and mouse5. The position of this button, the force required to press, and the contrast of its surface compared to the mouse4/5 buttons, is amazing, and I mean perfect, 100% the best button for your push-to-talk needs. It really is that amazing.

On another note, about logitechs customer support.
You may hear people talk of the build quality of the g400/g500. While I can't honestly say they are built to the greatest standard, I can say that logitechs support is incredible.
My first g500 eventually had cord problems. Logitech sent me a replacement for free. I didn't have to send them my broken mouse, I didn't have to provide proof of purchase, I didn't have to send them pictures. I just gave them info, and they sent me a new mouse.
My second g500, the one that replaced the first one, also had eventual problems with the cord. Logitech sent me a third one, same thing, no hassle, they just gave me a new one.
My third g500 just started doing the same thing. I told logitech I'm tired of the g500 and want a g400s. They sent me a g400s.
Just saying, you can't beat that level of customer support.
I think baloo is a really, really cool map, but I have to say I tend to agree with slin on this one. While baloo has its own unique features and style, there is so much more you can do on koth_ultiduo_r_b7.
No matter what your sens is, you can't go wroth with a cloth mouse pad since your mouse has an optical sensor.
Of all the mousepads mentioned here, your best bet is the talent or the qck+/heavy.
Personally, I think the qck is the best choice simply because it is cheaper.
The talent is a great pad as well, possibly has a slightly better surface as it's a little bit tighter/harder than the qck.
Even though both pads are very large, try to see it this way: you can never have too much space to move your mouse, but not having enough space is a big pain in the ass. No matter your sensitivity, having plenty of room, even more than you might need, is a very good thing.
I personally love the qck+/heavy, but since money doesn't seem to be an issue, I'd say go with the puretrak talent.
m.e. is a cool dude. I like him a lot. He's also a really good player. 10/10 would bang

- Other small improvements (App no longer gives user phantom smell of Waffle Crisp)
ScootsI know my fps dies when I look at a quick-fix uber, perhaps you're seeing more of them since the update and this is happening?
If I get qf-ubered and look down, my fps goes from 150 to like... 2. (DONT LOOK DOWN)
Actually I've noticed this as well. For me, if I'm playing medic with QF, or if I get ubered by a QF, my fps drops and makes my mouse lag. It's only with the QF. It must be the animation for it not being optimized well.
