#121 $100,000,000 for fortnite esports in Esports
KredibleThe person who ended up winning the $130,000 1st place prize was actually cheating

officially speaking, no he wasn't.

with that said, i do think it's really stupid that console & PC players are lumped into these tournaments yet simultaneously allowed to play on platform-separate servers.
iirc it is possible to flag XIM users. and while games ultimately should cater to the comforts & I/O preferences of players, i do think anyone using native KB/M or XIM (which is even better than native due to, at minimum, its support for macros & its ability to leverage controller-specific options like aim assist) should be forced to play at least on cross-platform servers (the default option for PC players).

this isn't to say that idropz_bodies was necessarily using XIM, but tournament organizers need to take all the necessary precautions to minimize bad press and animosity from competitive scenes & their viewership. someone winning over $100k shouldn't be stuck in a position to be vilified or distrusted in any capacity.

#3 Nvidia lightboost in Q/A Help

the benefits are imperceptible unless you have extremely consistent fps. and even with current implementations of lightboost on newer monitors, the input lag is too disadvantageous to warrant its usage in competitive play.

i reached this conclusion after extensively testing lightboost + benq's dyac with different strobe rates & custom resolutions.

g-sync, on the other hand, is much more useful in practice because of poor fps on most platforms when playing newer games

#110 Wut hud/crosshair/cfg thread in Customization
Se7envulcIt’s just the normal GreenDotBlackOutline it’s in the original vtf crosshairs threadThe vtf crosshair thread I can find doesn't have that one (http://www.teamfortress.tv/35367/vtf-crosshair-pack) and the earliest one has a broken dl link alltogether (http://www.teamfortress.tv/30866/guide-weapon-specific-custom-crosshairs). Am i missing the right thread?

i'll update the link in a minute.

#3 High quality huge mousepads in Hardware

i can extensively vouch for the glorious xxl mouse pad
https://www.amazon.com/Glorious-XXL-Extended-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B00NOCZTTI/

i've owned two over the span of >4 years (first one damaged when i had to move). great quality, low friction. thin, but has great padding on the bottom. doesn't slide at all. i wash mine pretty frequently because of cat hair (i just throw it in the washing machine with some detergent) & i haven't noticed any quality decline.

don't think i'll ever try other mousepads unless they go out of business.

(edit: just noticed ours are the same dimension, but glorious makes an even wider 3XL version that i'm sure is just as good).

#187 The Mouse/Mousepad Thread v2 in Hardware

i got the g305 today. i can wholeheartedly recommend it. good shape, nice optical scroll wheel, easy to actuate side mouse buttons, and good tracking. with a lithium battery, i'm getting ~89g and the difference is significant coming from a 107g g403 wireless.

Screwballjoshuawnyou're underestimating fortnite's building & editing mechanics; top-level competitive play is far removed from casual play. just like with tf2, any semi-competent player can stomp pubs. i guarantee you that the game's building & counter-building metas haven't been fully realized yet.Does not change the fundamentally non competitive nature of randomized loot.

randomized loot is definitely a hurdle in squads, but it can be mitigated with defensive early-game play.
loot distribution is almost a non-factor in solos and duos outside of suboptimal drop & naive, hyper-aggressive early-game strategies.
with that said, i wouldn't be opposed to static loot spawns. i'm really excited to see how far they take custom games.

also, epic games' replay system is most certainly going to be repurposed for real-time casting so i'm not too worried about that. their replay system is actually incredible.

I didn't say it wasn't a hard game but it doesn't take decades to master like cs or tf2

that remains to be seen. i don't think anyone's currently in the position to say how long fortnite takes to "master" considering that no one knows optimal strategy in all circumstances & everyone is constantly pushing mechanical barriers when it comes to build fights.

however, i can assure you that neither TF2 nor CS take "decades to master". i wouldn't be surprised if it takes players about the same amount of time to become competitively competent on fortnite as it does tf2.

woo wee wowo wooooOo wweeoo o owoOooOWwoooWW

ScrewballI'm sick of these casual AF games that are terrible esports getting these ridiculous prize pools and level of dev support while we are left to sit here and rot.DollyGames that are relatively easy and validate you no matter if you're the best in the world or play for 1 hour a day

JojoWireless gpro is now a thing. Not in stock yet through.

https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/product/g305-lightspeed-wireless-gaming-mouse

the g305 looks sick. i'll definitely upgrade to it from my g403 wireless once it's in stock & people vouch for the quality of said stock.

these guys are the reason why i came back to tf2 and played again. although i stepped back to focus on fortnite, i would gladly take the opportunity to play with them again if it doesn't work out.
great season with you guys. hope you guys find suitable teammate(s) for the upcoming season; wish you guys the best.
