#19 Windows 7 BSODing after loading screen in Hardware
mthsadjp_I'm assuming you connected the hard disks/SSD onto the intel controller)wait, you mean the motherboard itself and not like a SATA card or something? because if so yeah it's directly connected to the MB.

your motherboard has 2 SATA controllers. One provided by Intel via the chipset and another by asmedia. The AHCI driver you need to install depends on which controller you have the HD's installed to.

consult your manual about which SATA ports are for which controller

mthsadjp_AHCI drivers usually wont get installed with the motherboard driver package. You'll need to find the actual .inf file for the AHCI driver and manually install the AHCI drivers for the SATA controller via Device Manager.

Also http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/61869-ahci-enable-windows-7-vista.html may be another way but I usually just install the manufacture's driver manually.
where would the file be on the driver disc (if there)? like what would the name be? and if it's not on there where do i get it?

Don't use the drivers from the motherboard CD, it's always out dated. Either use the motherboard's support page or find the latest drivers yourself by searching the actual driver provider.

You can use the driver provided @ msi support page and download the file intel7x_rst_mb.zip, it includes a readme on how to install it as well.

(I'm assuming you connected the hard disks/SSD onto the intel controller)

Do you have AHCI enabled in the bios without having the SATA controllers installed.

Go disable AHCI/set the SATA controller back to IDE mode..

Stochast1cSuperlux HD 681 + Zalman Zm-Mic1 = ~$40

The Samson SR850 is also good too (they're actually very similar to the Superlux HD681)

#11 Windows Mouse Acceleration in TF2 General Discussion

I couldn't get used to the windows accel curve. I know there are ways to edit it, but there isn't anything easier to configure than the QL Accel Mouse Filter Driver.

Here is a neat page with recommended bitrates

You can use MediaInfo to quickly find information about your video files.

Also, I don't know how much disk space you have but....
Encode the image sequence to a lossless codec like Lagarith/UT video.
Also after messing around with color director, same thing. Encode into lossless codec.

By continually encoding in a very compressed and lossy encoder you're introducing artifacts/noise even before you upload to youtube.

Only your final encode, the one to be sent out to youtube, should be compressed with a h264 encoder. I prefer virtualdub's external encoder (x264+NeroACC>mp4) feature over easy h264...

#11 TF2 Sound in OBS? in TF2 General Discussion

-Is the headphone plugged into the front panel port or directly to the card?
-What driver are using? Asus or Uni drivers?
-Are there any other audio devices in Playback Devices?
-Try disabling Exclusive mode, go to your speaker properties via playback devices and check the advanced tab.
-If you have an integrated sound card, you should have it disabled via bios/firmware.

Please answer the questions.......Not just the top most one.

#5 Need a Free Mumble Channel? in TF2 General Discussion
ToastyTHTOblivionagewish there was a free alternative to mumble. how great would that be..Mumble is free, however server hosting is not.

If you want to home host through murmur+hamachi you can. If you are opposed to that I recall Teamspeak servers being extremely cheap.

Also, I do recall #tf2scrim allowing you to reserve a mumble and server for a scrim.

uh....murmur itself is the daemon/server application... you don't need the overhead of hamachi to run the murmur daemon. And you can host on your own machine (for FREE), though pings and bandwidth speeds might suffer.

mumble homepageFor hosters: no licensing hassle or cost
