maxframes with dx8.1

sorry if this seems obvious to some, and i know tf2 is way unoptimized, but i was wondering if everyone's computers are running at such a low rate, even with tf2 open. and, if not, is there a way to push my cpu a little bit harder?

also, my frames have gone from 500 to 200 to, as it stands now, barely maintaining 60 at midfights. should i re-install windows 8? tf2? should i wipe my pc and start over?

im using a laptop, so the cpu (i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz) isn't overclocked

i can post any additional info about my computer or tf2 settings if needed.

you know, i don't know what to tell you. from my point of view, from my experience, it doesn't get better. you get stronger. and while i may be far from able to be happy when i want, it helps to know there are people trying to help. people going through the same thing who can sympathize with you. there's wisdom and strength in numbers. there's not a single person on this earth that can truly make it on their own.
