is there something that people normally use for FPS optimization that valve's now trying to detect as VAC, like process lasso?

phraxDanceNumberMapping for pubbers is more profitable too. The majority of non-valve made official maps are pub maps. Gotta get them stamp dollars.
idk man as a proportion of comp playerbase/pub playerbase vs competitive official community maps/pub-oriented official community maps I'd say we're doing pretty well
from the standpoint of effort:output, you're getting about the same output currently, but pub maps hold significantly less effort to create
my hope is, once matchmaking rolls around, mapmakers will learn to focus more on comp maps, simply because a map in the MM list is a map getting paid by passes, which means a mapmaker making far more money than they would normally get from stamps and cases
listening to seagull's stream, hearing one of his friends' explanations as to how blizzard does tournament mode, and praying to god that I just misheard
OW is just doing stopwatch, right? it'd be absurd and heavily arbitrary to do otherwise
aim-you guys arent going to change shit
only for this first week and then youre gonna say, now i see why we dont pug this map
considering the number of times I feel like this was discussed, it's not out of the question, but you're certainly not helping people stop from falling back down that hill
drshdwpuppetIt is the same as any artistic medium, the critics are there because they believe in you and want to see your map get better so we can play on it. If it was really just a shit tier fuckfest every step of the way, we just wouldn't play or comment on it.
(note: idk you personally, you're likely far better at criticizing, however:)
many of the "critics" in comp actively wish not to play them, every step of the way. perhaps not here, but absolutely in areas like UGC, because unlike item creators that get paid easily for one hundredth of the effort, there are an unreasonable amount of people that just expect map makers to deal with utter misery for the sake of charity
when you think ppl are obligated to make good maps, you get scenarios like this, wherein people greatly want to take out a map they dislike but there's nothing else to replace it. there's a drought of competitive mapping, and at the very least, I'd rather TFTV try to help up some map makers, because it's sort of an unfortunate mess
indecencysaamclckwrkbut i feel like that's a waste of time when a new map can be made that will be better and can replace it.
im not sure how true that part is when people have been trying to make better maps for a while and they never seem to be worth anyone's time
sunshine?
that's one map within the past two years. the actual pace of people accepting new maps is incredibly slow, and given how even phi has talked about being discouraged from making new competitive maps, I don't think that's the mapmakers' fault
rowrowThe excuses for Granary are the same as the excuses for not playing it in the leagues
...perhaps this makes more sense in context of league players but from a outsider POV this explains nothing
lucrativethere is nothing wrong with how the map was played at all, the map was always played as intended and never broken or flawed under any circumstance, people just don't like the A/D game mode or you would see other A/D maps in the rotation im sure.
"as intended" was with far more than 12 people, if you haven't forgotten. or would you say this same thing about other giant pub-friendly maps?
intent means little, especially in a game that intended to always have random crits, when this map was made.
BumFreezei hope if there is an active and inactive map pool, valve will remake inactive maps to try and fix them like in csgo. i think well, freight fastlane etc could be good with changes
considering they denied the proper cp_freight dev's tweaks to his map (check description), I wouldn't get my hopes up
iron man defense on gravelpit has always been incredibly shaky ground, though, adding a stricter time limit isn't going to change that, because it still remains inconsistent and fragile compared to simply holding the better point. at best, you'll just make the safer option just as fragile, and then defense is stepping on eggshells
e: just in case ppl misread this as pessimism: I love the idea of a remade gravelpit, but I think that, if you genuinely want iron-man to be viable, you need to change more than just a couple of timers. one-third of the map is entirely useless for 90% of games, that should be addressed
Woogiebugi want to buy it but i feel as if im being trolled
idk
this is just b/c the magic of the game comes from you going into it on your own, nobody backseat-gaming or anything. add this to the fact that the sheer quirkiness of the game beyond "it's kinda like earthbound" (which doesn't even cover most of it), and that you might end up overhyping this to yourself since you want nothing spoiled, and the game itself is kinda fragile to sell to others, but still beautiful in the right scenario.
it's an RPG wherein you don't have to kill anyone, the actual core gameplay is actually more dodging similar to top-down shooters than RPG, and the writing is incredible in that it can switch between ridiculous jokes and stone-faced seriousness within seconds and you wouldn't notice. if I were to recommend it, I'd say not to assume much beyond this
I was about to say "unless there's some syntaxing I don't know, anything above n++ is a bit silly" but actually googling brought up CFG syntaxing for sublime text, I'm dumb
https://packagecontrol.io/packages/CFG%20Configuration%20Syntax%20Highlighting
also since I now realized you can just do this, I found one someone also made for n++ but unfortunately I can't seem to find one for atom, idk
I recall highlander leagues trying it a small bit years ago, and even then it was incredibly stalling. I'd love to see someone re-try its core aesthetics/design for 6s
overhauled cosmetics aren't too bad of a thing, it's the overall silhouette that still matters in the long run. that's the actual issue with the reaper skin, by taking off a lot of the armor padding on him he looks like he should be a completely different character
custom HUDs, sure (assuming they actually intend to heavily optimize the default HUD like they said), ragdolls is questionable but it should be a general graphic option, but hitsounds need to be on by default, absolutely. it's like having auto-reload off, you're not hurting yourself too hard, but you're still choosing the objectively worse option for no gain
