#1 TF2 update for 4/12/17 in TF2 General Discussion

Via the Steam store:

Valve- Internal updates to support future development
- These changes originally shipped to game servers only on March 14th
- Fixed regression from the toolchain beta causing the r_drawclipbrushes command to hang the game
- Fixed regression from the toolchain beta causing OS X players to be unable to join certain servers

Rumor has it:

- Excluding attempt #1 at this update (which was on 3/14/17 but then rolled back on clients due to Mac issues mentioned above), this is TF2's first update in 57 days

- Do you want to be bored? Knock yourself out, this GameTracking diff is the epitome of boring

- Size is ~40 MB

#1 TF2 item schema update for 3/30/17 in TF2 General Discussion

Via the Steam store:

Valve- Added UGC Highlander Season 19/Season 20, UGC 6vs6 Season 21/Season 22, and UGC 4vs4 Season 8/Season 9 tournament medals
- Added Gamers Assembly 2017 tournament medals

Rumor has it:

- Although the Steam store post claims "The update will be applied automatically when you restart Team Fortress 2.", it's just an item schema update (which can be seen here), so there won't be anything to download

BaseLAN is better, but it's a shame they're not hosting TF tournaments these days.

#1 CS:GO update for 3/29/17 (3/30/17 UTC, 1.35.7.3) in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[ MISC ]
– When inspecting in game items from user’s own inventory, from other users’ inventories, and from Community Market, players can now see an official Item Certificate that includes Finish Style, Finish Catalog Number, Pattern Template, and Wear Rating.

– Added some cover near tunnel exit in yard
– Moved terrorist spawn area to balcony at back of house
– Added cover in long-range areas
– Fixed several boosts/exploits
– Smoothed out movement in general

Rumor has it:

- Here's an example of an item certificate: http://i.imgur.com/xTQ6sWD.png
- You can view them by inspecting items, and then hovering over the icon in the lower right corner
- This is a solution meant to replace API functions that you may remember being discontinued last week due to excessive load that couldn't be solved anytime soon

- Despite the larger than usual size, GameTracking is surprisingly light: https://github.com/SteamDatabase/GameTracking-CSGO/commit/27dc8fdcdf66587665eab8cfef53f07b3d298eea

- Most of the large size is from more shader updates (in \platform\shaders\fxc\), lightmappedgeneric_ps30.vcs on its own accounts for most of the size, clocking in at ~240 MB

#9 OPTIONAL TF2 update for 3/14/17 in TF2 General Discussion
mbaWill this beta thing have any effect on performance?

John mentioned that although on paper it could result in slightly improved performance, don't expect anything drastic in the range of a miracle.

#1 OPTIONAL TF2 update for 3/14/17 in TF2 General Discussion

Via HLDS:

Valve- Internal updates to support future development

Rumor has it:

- John Schoenick shared this notice along with the above:

John Schoenick via HLDSThis update will be making the toolchain beta branch live. This update is known to break numerous server mods, many of which have updates available. In order to reduce the pain with this transition, the update is optional for servers. However, the next mandatory TF update will necessarily end support for the pre-toolchain-update builds, so server administrators should seek to update as soon as possible.

See the "Updated system requirements for TF2 dedicated servers" thread for more information on the toolchain update.

- John

- In case you care about low-level stuff, here it is, but for most people, it'll be boring and of no use. Also included is a sync of recent Steam Datagram system configuration changes that properly implement the Sydney data center IP range changes

- Size is ~30 MB

#1 CS:GO update for 2/16/17 (2/17/17 UTC, 1.35.6.8) in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[ MISC ]
– Fixed helmet and armor icons of teammates not showing for dead players.
– Fixed several client and game server crashes.
– Fixed several missing achievement icons.

Rumor has it:

- Said missing achievement icons are for the ones for winning 5 times on Arms Race/Demolition maps, and the achievement for playing on all of them: https://github.com/SteamDatabase/GameTracking-CSGO/commit/882289e3f497a93ff2b64f2542c5d99bf9f7c839
- Included is a local sync of a Steam Datagram system configuration change from earlier today that changes IP ranges for the Sydney, Australia data center, routing issues might be a result of this
- Here's low-level stuff which would be part of the various crash fixes

- Did you know that tomorrow, the 17th (18th UTC), marks one full year since the release of Operation Wildfire?

- In the event that you need it, a previous version branch was put up a couple of hours ago as "1.35.6.7"
- To use it, right-click on CS:GO in your Steam client, click properties, click the betas tab, then select the branch and Steam will acquire it. If you don't see it offered, you may have to restart Steam
- If you're a server operator or a league/tournament admin that wishes to play on the previous version, use "+app_update 740 -beta 1.35.6.7" in SteamCMD

- Size is ~5 MB

#1 CS:GO update for 2/14/17 (2/15/17 UTC 1.35.6.7) in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[ SERVERS ]
– Reduced per-client memory use by sharing network buffers.
– Increased entities delta buffers to 192Kb to support connecting to game modes with many entities (sv_delta_entity_full_buffer_size on the server can be used to increase it up to 256Kb if needed)
– Added a better error message for clients explaining the too many entities on the server error.
– Added more functionality for community log address integration.
– Log address can now be sent an 18-character prefix before every log packet text
– logaddress_add_ex command will use a unique prefix token per instance for the added log address
– logaddress_token_secret and logaddress_add_ts allow to add prefix as a checksum of known secret string
– Added a message for “killed by the bomb” to the logs.
[ MISC ]
– Teams can now vote on team issues independently.
– Fixed sleeves interpenetrating gloves
– Spectator’s player glow values have been adjusted to make noise-making state transitions more noticeable.
[ OSX ]
– Fixed CSM boundary artifacts on Iris based Macbook pro.
[ MAPS ]

– Nuke
— Fixed see-through gap when jump-peeking from CT spawn towards Mini
— Fixed various bugs reported on CSGOBugTracker.com
– Cache

Rumor has it:

- Sorry, no sign of "Operation 8" - on February 17th (18th UTC), we will hit 1 year since Operation Wildfire was released

- Separatist sleeve models were updated (which would be the sleeves impenetrating gloves fix): https://github.com/SteamDatabase/GameTracking-CSGO/commit/7b276679d4ec7807363fe09c9d15d86de5392f84

- Icons to accompany China's anti-addiction system as part of CS:GO in China (published by Perfect World) have been added. Icons are green, yellow, and red, resembling a traffic signal light
- Some additional restrictions on settings have been implemented when under Perfect World influence (which you can simulate using "-perfectworld" in launch options)

- Added Rally Call Charity Tournament community medals
- Added ozfortress Season 18 tournament medals

Rumor has it:

- The new survey questions are intended for those that don't frequently play casual or competitive, and one to rank quality of maps: http://i.imgur.com/0tnfHQh.png

- sigsegv__ (a responsible bug hunter) tells us a tale about the origins of the animation-related hitboxes bug originally discovered by Nicknine from TF2 Classic and reveals that this bug's been happening ever since The Orange Box was released in 2007

- A few HUD file updates and a local sync of Steam Datagram system configuration changes from the past month: https://github.com/SteamDatabase/GameTracking-TF2/commit/537a93b69227c91d3a58d852fe6be48032faed6f
