Okay, in the short amount of time I tried getting Quickplay to work I wasn't able to make the server registered fully. It's back up now for the evening, enjoy.
just set up QoS on 27015 and all traffic on that port will be prioritized
catman1900I feel like the original should be allowed to be used as it's basically stock but some players prefer it more than stock.
But... It is allowed. For that reason.
Vegan_MeatBy default, Quickplay no longer sends players to non-valve servers and players who know how to change that know how to use the server browser.
You'd be surprised, actually. Most people don't bother to use the server browser, even for community maps, unless they're looking for a custom game mode like prophunt or a jump map.
tscYou may not be able to enter QuickPlay since you're blacklisting cosmetics:
TF2 Quickplay OverviewModifications not allowed in quickplay
- Granting or modifying economy items, or taking actions that devalue players' items, or interfering with the TF2 economy
I've done a bit of research into this one myself and it seems that it only refers to things like per-server unusuals or items for players without those items in their backpack, or custom items entirely. It looks like servers are able to ban items for all users without issue. I'm looking into this more though.
You can have random crits disabled as long as you don't remove the nocrits tag, but then players will have to choose to play on nocrits servers for them to join your server via QuickPlay.
Alright, there's a LOT of misinformation spread around. I'm gunna have to sit down and just troubleshoot everything.
The server might be going through a bit of testing for the next few hours. I'll have it back to normal for this evening though
Today I'm going to work on getting the server involved with Quickplay.
The following will have to stop happening in order to do so:
- Class limits have to go away.
- The player count will have to be raised to 24.
- Random crits have to be enabled. Damage spread and bullet spread does not.
Additionally, it's unclear to me whether or not custom maps will stop it from entering Quickplay. If I'm reading their wiki correctly then players won't be shuffled in from Quickplay while the server is on a custom map, but after the map changes to a Valve map Quickplay players will enter again, and they'll stay for the transition to a custom map (if they choose to do so).
How are the player counts on average right now? The most I've ever seen was 8 players in the server, so I think Quickplay might be the solution.
EDIT: I've found some more up-to-date information. Maps from the Workshop are supported if the player opts in in the Quickplay menu. However, random crits have to be enabled, which is a pretty big issue. I'll continue researching and experimenting to see if this is accurate.
Segno
I was too hyped for the server and my new internet tomorrow. ;-;
i can literally see my monitor wildly flickering from my bed but I'm too lazy to get up and turn it off
tf2 hasnt kept me awake like this in years

Dreamboatriotbzreviving this thread to say that koosta won
Yeah, no contest right now.
rip lange
SegnoYou never mentioned Ashville.
It was added post-launch and I forgot to add it to the OP and MOTD, I'll do that tomorrow
guys why are you pubbing at 5am I'm trying to sleep
WiethoofdyttriumWhitelist.tf, for some reason, always enables weapon skins and action items. I've disabled those manually, along with some reskins (pans).you can manually disable all reskins, but weapon skins and certain action items are enabled by default because they don't affect the game unless certain convars are set or map types are loaded.
You can still disable other purely cosmetic items too, though. I feel weapon skins should have their own toggle in the misc section.
LarryOsmen41isnt the crossbow allowed now too?
yes, I added it last night. It's in the OP and MOTD now too
WiethoofdyttriumThe following non-stock weapons are currently unbanned:So this is the whitelist (takes care of every stock reskin (botkiller/festive/skins)Show Content
- Kritzkrieg
- Original
- Gunboats
- Ubersaw
- Sandvich
- Flare Gun
- Cloak and Dagger
- L'Etranger
How are you enforcing this whitelist? TFTrue?
The whitelist is based on that but it isn't the actual whitelist. Whitelist.tf, for some reason, always enables weapon skins and action items. I've disabled those manually, along with some reskins (pans).
Yes, TFTrue.
