xiaobiI never understood why anyone would be so stupid as to take their money roll it up and burn it to die faster. You have to be incredibly stupid to still smoke cigarettes in 2015. You make yourself smell like shit, your breath smells like death, and you just give off the impression that you absolutely don't give a shit about your health. What is attractive about anyone that smokes? If you don't smoke but you support your partner smoking, you should be accepting the fact that you're killing your significant other!

#8 Should I get a new HDD? in Hardware
SetsulHowever your HDD definitely isn't responsible for stuttering and screen tearing. Neither a new HDD nor a new SSD will fix this.

depending on when stuttering happens, a failing hard drive might be the cause of some stuttering thanks to absurdly high seek times when loading new assets. not screen tearing though.

edit: probably also wouldn't cause stuttering in tf2 thanks to how source 1 loads assets on map connect/bootup. might cause extra stuttering with skins though.

MapletoothTry upgrading or, if there isn't an update available, downgrading your Intel HD Graphics drivers.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/search?keyword=Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics+5500+for+5th+Generation+Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors
I've upgraded and downgraded drivers on both my graphics cards. The weird thing is that my computer will randomly start with full brightness, but this has happened only twice out of the last 20ish reboots in the last few days.

Both? Optimus?

Have you tried disabling one or the other in the BIOS?

#3 Quick Question in Q/A Help

for what it's worth I don't see this issue in 10 so I think it was fixed, and I'm using the exact same setup (hell, even the same TF2 install thanks to steam libraries)

#35 165hz Asus monitor in Hardware
TangyyErenJayUuuhhh yeah im sure everyone watching their 24 fps 1080p movies will love having this 1440p 165hz monitor.I understand you are being sarcastic, but there are a lot of tv that run at 60hz, mine for example. For people wishing to have an even nicer picture than the standard 60hz tv, or what you rich people have, 120 hz tv, they should buy this monitor and replace their tv with it.TangyyHigh refresh rate means clearer picture and more enjoyable viewing experience. This is probably for people wishing to replace their tv with a computer, so it's for watching videos and movies, which is something that does not require low response time/input lag. It is also alternatively used for single player and casual games.

This was not designed for competitive gaming, more so to improve experience of casual and single player games.

the301stspartan4 ms mother of God, that's a latency of more than half a frame on that monitor, how can they expect us to play with that? Huge blunder from ASUS, not sure how soon they'll recover from this

It's IPS. That simple.

#9 look at dis in Q/A Help

regarding quotes in languages - most languages, including whatever the hell tf2 wants to call its scripts, just use quotes to group strings where spaces would normally terminate them. so for example, if you want to say the following in chat:

this is text

then you can't just use 'say this is text' as a command, because it'll just say 'this' in chat, since the spaces will separate. instead you'd put them in quotes to group them as one string: "say this is text" would type 'this is text' into chat. most languages would start the quotations at the beginning of the string, just before the word 'this', but tf2 is weird so it needs to group the command in with the same string.

this isn't necessary for numbers because they aren't ever separated with spaces, so for most cvars the quotes are useless, though people often use them anyway because it looks cleaner.

yukiyttriumThe last game I preordered was the original StarCraft II...

But Bethesda made me do it. Pip boy here I come.

Already requested two days off of work for the release. My rig is ready. My body is ready. My wallet is ready.

Wallet ready? Day 1 DLC?

Bethesda has never pushed day 1 DLC, and consistently the DLC they do release comes about half a year later in the form of real expansion packs, and isn't priced horribly. It also ALWAYS comes out AFTER the modding tools (Creation Kit / GECK) are released. They're one of the few studios that do it right.

EDIT: If you meant about my wallet being ready, I preordered with Amazon, so I don't actually get billed until it ships.

wrupersonally the biggest hype about a videogame in a loooong while (the last one was Rebirth)
and as many people stated in youtube comments and pretty much everywhere, the way Bethesda advertise the game and the marketing for this game is just awesome, all this content around only few glimpses of gameplay buildы up the hype with such effectiveness that you should give credit just for that

just take a look here
