Restart steam and you'll probably get it

Was today the last day you could have the old steam ui before it forced updated you to the new one? If so, this is stupid because functionally its basically the same. I think the old one looked better but I don't lose any sleep over it.
Edit: seems they've updated the library system, still functionally the same.

if it wasn't so much comparably laggy with a larger memory footprint than before i would hate it less

holy shit this, it used to be that steam library would be the quickest thing to load no matter what and would always load perfectly. Now it almost crashes steam just to load the 2 games I play in my entire library

i appreciate that they tried to give us more organizational capabilities but they made it look just gray and plasticy.

In the options you can disable the broadcast and community hub auto-previews which definitely helps load times and memory use.

Whenever I try to close the library or store or any window really it just fades away then reopens itself unless I spam click the x
Really annoying and looks worse, just like the steam friends ui I guess

i've had it for a while now and I find it to be visually nicer than the old ui. Given that its not 2009 anymore and most people have a reasonably powerful PC the extra images and animations are more of a pleasure than an inconvenience..

fuck you burger
anybody using old steam friends ui via -no-browser should also feel free to add +open steam://open/minigameslist to your steam launch options since -no-browser renders new updates library unusable regardless. this launch option opens a small steam client window, but do beware you can close it, so youll either have to restart steam or paste steam://open/minigameslist into your browsers adress bar

Ouch. I'm still confident that most people aren't using PC's that weak though. Steam has everyones hardware information so it would be easy to see if the majority of their consumers would be comfortable on the new platform. You should give https://playnite.link/ a shot. It's fairly lightweight and easy to use.

Absolute dogshit. I hate modern UI design. This trend of striping featchures from power users and adding useless flashy bits for the normies is getting increasingly ridiculous. Also the complete lack of UI consistency. FFS the friends list and steam client use different theming. Come on Valve.
Just give me a lite steam client with just a plain list of games/friends list and leave me the fuck alone. If i want to buy games or do other shit that is what i got a web browser for.

from a design point of view i definitely like it - the old steam was definitely starting to look very dated. I personally feel that the functionality has been made easier to access but I will admit I don't frequently use many steam features that I'm sure others have had issues with in this update.
Not sure I understand the hate its getting but I'm sure someone can prove me wrong here.

Is there a reason why the new UI put dead multiplayers games back in my library when the servers for those games have been dead/shutdown for literal years?

Why don't they just let me have multiple categorized columns of games instead of all this useless bullshit taking up literally 80% of the UI? https://i.imgur.com/haAo2Hi.png

its like every time steam makes a ui change the almost unanimous community feedback is that its laggy or is too bloated and yet they keep doing shit like this

1080ti, 7700k overclocked to 4.8 ghz, 16 gigs of 3000 Mhz ddr4 ram, nvme ssd. This shit is still slow compared to old steam for me and I hate it.
