id donate
I think you will find that people will be just as willing if not more willing as last time to donate, I was one of the first people to donate last time and I risked $50 in the first few hours of the donation opening up, at the time it was still just mere speculation that an American team may show up, most people didn't believe it would even happen.
You proved the doubters wrong and not only did you show up, you delivered and raped the EU scene. Now some people doubt people will donate? If anything I feel more secure that this is going to happen again!
I agree with the concept people are paying for a ticket to a show and what a hell of a show you provided last time, the only difference is now unlike last time when the yanks completely decimated our pride you are also sending some convicts over to rub some salt in! This will truly be an epic show which I and many others will be willing to donate for again.

As someone who didn't donate last time I'd like to chime in on this. Before i46 I was reluctant to donate since I didn't know what to expect and if the entertainment would be worth the money I'd spend. Now, if a donation drive for i49 starts up I will gladly hand over 20 or so euros.
I was only getting into the competitive scene when the i46 donations started up and watching the final with my roommate (who isn't even that into tf2 and not at all interested in playing comp) was awesome! The hype of EU vs NA made it an enjoyable spectacle and I bet that if the drive is started again I think Black_bob will be right. People will be more willing to donate. Even some who don't play comp regularly themselves.

So... what's going on? I feel that the clandestine nature of the extv arrangement last time harmed things in terms of momentum since people didn't know what the plan was until quite late. There are plenty of people clearly showing in this thread that there is money for the taking. Strike while the iron's hot and all that.

It sounds like it will be a personal fund raiser from the teams (mix^ at least) and my guess is that they are more than willing to take a few day/weeks to set things up properly and risk... striking colder iron I guess and not come out of the gate with a massive fuck up or misunderstanding that will taint the entire fundraiser.

Personally I did not donate for the i46 fundraiser as like many people here have said I wasn't sure what it would be like or even if it would happen. Now having taken part in that tournament and standing watching the VTV stand when Epsilion and LG were fighting it out over the last spot for the grand final Shouting/Willing with everyone else there for epsilion to take it to a golden cap (I have heard the noise was so loud that you could here us shouting from the exhibition hall) and sitting in the finals area watching LG and mix^ clash. I would now donate and probably quite a lot of money. Even better if some Aussies came as well
sorry for the lack of response so far, but here's the jist of it:
tftv's going to hold a fundraiser for one NA team, which will most likely be simply for the ESEA S13 LAN winners
more details/donation page will be up in the next couple days

Awesome!
I need to recognise this new global competitive TF2 forum platform more; I've been hanging around at ETF2L forum too much.
I am happy that the initiative of funding a team to i49 is happening, although a bit disappointed that the last year's donation drive got underfunded and that a certain person had to pay out of his own pocket. At least we learned from that in the end; there's already an improvement in the planning and organising this in the fact that we are only going for one team this time around.

I'll definitely donate. Donated last year and had a blast watching on stream. S13 LAN already looking pretty competitive, this'll just make it better. Really hope we can hit 10 grand.

can't we have an i49 qualifier tournament like we did for i46
for fundraising purposes?
and to test the mettle of new pickups and backups because starters can't go to europe?
and also because it was fun?

Maybe people should play on LAN to qualify for a LAN?

Why not make like THE super team and send them to LAN?
no super teams, no qualifier tournaments
scheduling a tournament during esea or during the off season hasnt worked in years.
super teams dont have the same cohesion that actual teams do.

you might get along with people in passing or in pugs but it's a whole different thing to be on a team with them. even if it is the "invite circle jerk".
an NA dream team or super team would have to have b4nny and platinum on it. classic mixup S12 was the closest you'd get to a super team.
