Aug 9th 0:00 valve time (pst) is for VHX, Aug 10th is YT
takes 30 min to earn 5 dollar. go earn and and then you can relax for 30 min watching something that these guys put alot more then 30 minutes effort into :)
eXtine
We can't release the 50fps version on YT, YT doesn't support higher frame rates.
So there's the reasoning behind the paid version for everyone (June) complaining about this.
However, I think part of what dellort's saying (don't want to put words in peoples' mouths so please correct me if I'm mistaken), and what I was thinking as well, is that if this had been presented as the reason for the optional paid version this wouldn't have felt like some sort of last minute scheme for more revenue
and might have avoided this whole thing altogether. On the whole, I agree with dellort that more openness with the community can prove wonders.

Am I just dumb, or can I not pre-pay for the HQ version now?
eXtineWe could have asked for funds to pay for Luc to be able to focus on this more, but there were signs pointing to that being a terrible decision. It came up sometime in some posts and people were upset at the notion that we'd fundraise to complete a promised project.
I'm pretty sure that was clockwork saying that donations would be pushing it since the documentary then (Jan, 2013) was considered late. The same point still applies; it's been almost a year (which I presume no one expected) and now you want money for the 50 fps version?
Just for the record, most serious frag movies have a free 50 (or 60 or something?) fps version available for download. A lot of people (myself included) probably assumed this would be the case for the documentary as well.

I feel like I'm missing something here. Why are people getting their panties in a bunch about the documentary being "late"?
On a different note, I'm hyped as fuck and totally buying it just to support Luke/eXtv.
(And partially to spite June)

I do recall wanting to have the movie released before January of this year. I had no clue exactly how much work Luke would have to do.
Is 36 minutes necessary? I was expecting a frag vid and a few highlights with the players and announcers and stuff.
Maybe its just one of those epics and it had to be that long to tell the true tale... i guess we will see

I don't mind paying the $5, nor do I really agree with june/stalin/dellort that extv was very snakelike, but good lord are some people in this community bandwagoning man-children (woman-child in renhet's case). they're entitled to their opinion, stop acting like anyone who disagrees with your favorite people like sal/lange is automatically wrong.
Renhet's reason for disagreeing has more to do with her experience with shitty art customers, I think.
I fail to see an issue.
Content is being created. If you wish to buy that content you can. If you don't want to buy anything you don't have to. The content is still being created, and there are still ways of viewing it for free. Soooooo hullo?
hookyblazewho the fuck is 2sy_morphiend?June
as if that helps

I feel as if you came in here not to actually say that "there's no issue" but to join June in being what mustard has called a "~Debate Kid~" simply because you don't like June and June doesn't like you. Let it the fuck go. eXtine and Sal responded in kind to the concerns dellort and I posted, and there's no need to talk about it any further.
wait guys i think you're missing the whole point here...
Who is "June"?
Who is "June"?
Apologies to June if he/she feels misled.

THEY'RE SO AGGRESSIVE THERE'S JUST NO STOPPING THEM
from what i understand there isn't a whole lot of tf2 action in this docu, its more focused around the event it self. buyer beware <|8O)
Defy - true. There is TF2 action in the grand finals but it's much more interview- and player-focused.
People seriously have a problem with people wanting a small profit out of a project they've worked on for a year?
I usually hate this word, but holy shit that reeks of entitlement.

Lets review.
June is arguing for the sake of arguing even though he doesn't care about the actual topic. (not a surprise)
Dellort, an editor, is upset about the release form of produced content. (not a surprise)
luc, sal, extine are upset about people attacking their product. (not a surprise)
mustardoverlord is upset by bandwagoners(not sure why this bothers you so much)
In the end everyone just has their own agenda. What is the point of all this?

Think of all the what if's, maybe this is just a giant scandal taking a ride on the hype train. I think you guys need to offer refunds.

I'm not sure what you were reading but that definitely wasn't what I was arguing here.

The way I see it, is we are all going to get to see it within the next 8 / 9 days anyway, and hopefully the guys who produced it will make a decent amount of money from this project which in turn inspires them to start future projects that help, promote, and entertain our community.
The project was clearly not money orientated from the start, just a later realisation that a small but reasonable compensation could be made for the effort put in. I hate the idea of people doing things for this community purely for financial self-gain, but this isn't one of those cases.
*Edit* Thanks Sal, it's late :P
