ETF2L Season 38 and Preseason Cup announced

As their Highlander season remains ongoing, ETF2L has announced Season 38 of their 6v6 league, and a preseason test cup alongside it.

Preseason Test Cup

The preseason cup will be held on the 27th and 28th of Febuary, and signups are open from now until the 26th at 19:00 CET.

The group stage will span three maps, which in order are:

  • koth_clearcut_b15d
  • cp_reckoner_rc6
  • cp_villa_b18

Both Villa and Clearcut have seen their fair share of play in North America, with the KoTH map becoming one of the regions more favored. Reckoner again peeks its head out as the on-again off-again EU map of choice. The results of the cup will help to determine the final map pool of the regular season.

Season 38

Several changes are already confirmed for the new season. Firstly following the results of Season 37 "test season", the no Medic attach speed plugin command will no longer be enabled. The other major change is the addition of a concede plugin. This gives the ability for teams to forfeit by typing concede in console. To do this there must be 3 minutes or less remaining, and four players from the team must all type the command in order to concede. Due to the nature of the time limit, the command will only be available on 5cp maps for the time being. These exact values may be tweaked in the future.

Some other confirmed details include the Premiership prize pool, totalling €1,500 and distributed as follows:

  • 1st place: €750
  • 2nd place: €450
  • 3rd place: €300

Dates to keep in mind for the season are:

  • March 7th-13th - Premiership Qualifiers
  • March 11th - Signups close (March 6th for Premiership), and provisional tiers
  • March 13th - Final divisions published
  • March 14th - Season begins
  • May 2nd-16th - Playoffs

Lastly, the majority of the map pool, pending additions from the Preseason Cup, is confirmed to be:

  • cp_gullywash_final1 or cp_gullywash_f4 (pending release)
  • cp_process_f7
  • cp_snakewater_final1
  • cp_sunshine
  • koth_product_rcx

Signups are open until March 11th at 21:00 CET, further details and the announcement in ETF2L's words are available on their blog post.

Imagine thinking that 4 fucking hammer units of size is what is making pipes hit you more often, the scout class moves 4 hammer units in literally 0.01 seconds

Seems kinda OP/dumb to have a weapon that removes an aspect of counting ubers, judging health advantage, and risk when making decisions.

The horizontal axis isn't what matters it's the fact that an iron bomber pipe literally hits you before a stock pipe would (even if both are aimed straight at the guy and both are "fair" hits). It extends towards the player too and that's what makes it unfun and unfair to get hit by.

Just get rid of golden caps in the main season. No reason, during a round robin/swiss format to have them. Just have draws, each team gets 1 point.

I see 2 arguments against this "each match should have a winner" ok, well why is 3-3 possible then? drawing maps is but drawing ON a map isn't? Or "then some teams won't have as many points as others available!". Using this logic teams that lose don't have as many points available as others too since they don't get any points from a loss.

Also noone really cares about x/y axis (left/right or up/down) of iron bomber size, most people I know care about the z axis (the forwards and backwards) since it results in the pipe hitting you clearly before the model does, which is just frustrating. It is also VERY noticeable, why I used to think it was just a smaller model than hitbox (partly true, but I didn't think hitbox was so much larger).

Please keep either Metal or Gran in! I don't think its very beneficial to switch out 2 maps which have an unique flow and interesting class imbalances for another scout centered map like reckoner...
I get if we want to have two koth maps in order to add more importance to this gamemode, but pls only removing one of these maps for one new map!

Also would be very cool if etf2l could release the data from the survey they took, I'd be really interested on what they base their decisions on when it comes to maps and unlocks :).
