Tf2 comp history records

Is there a site or are there records where you can look back on the history of tf2 conp, good or bad, to keep as evidence to the outside world that we actually had a great history?
If not, why not? I keep hearing stories about the legends of old occasionally in mumble or on some threads here, but there is very little to explore - only asking the original messenger or some old yt videos

There really should be somewhere to specifically look back on and enjoy the stories people have had in this community before us

I really wanted to get people who had been around for ages, guys like Marxist, the Fragile, eXtine and do a youtube series talking about who old school guys were and what their legacies in the game actually are. Wanted to do something like thorins who is X videos and in cases where the person was accessible doing something like his reflections videos.

The closest we ever got were sideshows brief on the point series and kritzkasts recent talking with ... live stream series is good as well although it is much less sixes focused.

combination of exam stress and hard disk failure led to many of the presentations for that event being lost, unfortunately.

some of them exist somewhere out there, i'm sure. the course admin/ TA-type folks local recorded mumble audio to every class, but not all of them were saved (including some of the TFTV stream stuff, unfortunately)

Liquipedia has some holes but has a pretty good record, Moixxoi has been doing the bulk of the updating as of late especially since georgebaii/blegh don't really edit any more

agreed a thorin type thing where someone with a lot of knowledge discusses players histories and stuff is something i feel like this game really deserves

Personally, I never felt confident in my knowledge to do it myself, and at one point pre covid I felt motivated and pulled a small group together to do it, but then I had a flood and was without my setup for 3 months, and then covid happened and I just haven't had motivation or time to try and do it again.

mustardoverlordif only I weren't so lazy and had actually spent the last 10 years actively writing down my memories. . .

^this
i often find that ive forgotten about a lot of things, including events i was actually involved in and it takes some very directed, prompting questions to even make me remember shit from that long ago
its a shame cause ive definitely been around for some of the funnier and outlandish tf2 moments and people generally enjoy when i tell stories nd dat
man just cant remember innit....

This came to my attention thanks to seeds that this message came the wrong way sorry i phrased it REALLY badly, I meant that its sad that it calls yomps active since he died now (thats why i said "sadly"), I was not making fun of him in any way, it wasnt a joke and I want to apologize if I offended anyone. Sometimes my english doesnt translate my feelings right i guess.
I lost an ex-teamate and homie to similar circumstances to what happened to yomps, it was a few weeks ago and would hate if someone were to joke about their death.

Love to everyone, RIP yomps and RIP roux.

does anyone have an archive of the R E L A X seanbud video? i used to watch it bi-weekly for general life motivation and it was one of my favorite pieces of art to come out of the competitive tf2 scene.

Also, I know the demo for CW's 82 frag game was uploaded, but is there anywhere the VOD for the cast got saved? Or anything from the very first ESEA seasons + pre-ESEA leagues? How did we even get from i32 to having class restrictions?

Not sure how I didn't see this thread, but figured I should comment on things people can do to help this issue that is consistently talked about yet neglected due to. . well multiple facets.

First off as Ire said I do the main Liquipedia editing now for TF2 (although its slowed down recently but I digress), and there are multiple issues about writing things from just "word of mouth" that you just hear through Mumble. Although I highly encourage the discussion of the history of this game, simply saying "I heard it from someone" isn't really enough to add it to something like Liquipedia. Just like on Wikipedia, there needs to be sources. Wikipedia is a collection of sources explaining a subject, just like how Liquipedia is a collection of sources to explain a tournament, a players history, a teams history etc. As of this moment there aren't that many "sources" we can use to officially document some of these amazing stories, ALTHOUGH there are things people can do - such as interviews. Not just written (shoutout to all the guys who write articles) but video interviews with players, staff, admins, or anyone who can chime in on the incredibly in-depth history about the scene. I beg, BEG, for someone to put in the effort to interview people who are willing to tell stories about anything revolving TF2, and make it public.

The reason these other esports titles are so big is because we see content 24/7. Articles, Interviews, Critical Journalism, pre game interviews, after game interviews, how many CSGO and LoL interviews do you see daily? Its an insane amount of content. "Oh but Moixxoi we don't have the player base, we don't have the resources". Shut up, there are games with similar player bases that put just as much effort in, and maintain a flourishing historical archive of their scene through all the outlets I just listed. Warcraft3 has less overall players (estimated at 1800 current players), zero support from their dev, and a community made client everything competitive is ran through - sound familiar? Yet there are interviews done in Chinese, French, Spanish, German, English, Korean, by multiple different communities to try and preserve their history. I personally used to cast Korean Challengers (tier 2 Korean LoL) for the sake of preservation, I wasn't a good caster but so what, it was something for people to look back on and remember. You and your friend remember a player who was dogshit in Main and then rose up into Invite? Record a little talk between you two, discussing how said ex teammate used to play, interact, anything, it all helps to try and grow a narrative. And for Liquipedias sake it gives us something to reference so we can write it down as "official".

I feel like I could go on and on about this, but I've been a part of so many different scenes, and seen this issue happen before, yet it was solved by people putting in the effort. I wish I could do it all myself, but I am not a TF2 expert by any means nor claim to be one. There are games, scenes, and communities I have been a part of where there isn't even a sliver of support compared to what you guys have, so try and do something while there are still people around to talk about it all. I haven't even been around that long, yet I am absolutely elated whenever someone goes on a prolix explanation of a player who isn't around anymore (or even still is active).

If you want me to talk about this subject more (which is unlikely), I'll continue to do so, but I don't feel like a wall of text is the most inviting thing when it comes to these topics.

I also want to say that data, and match results are pretty much the least of our worries, almost all of that information is preserved quite well through a few different databases, but of course anything helps in terms of preserving history.
