rktGODbrodyim not arguing either way on this one but rkt really has been in every thread fully showing his era biasI would be happy if arekk and slemnish just swap places on this list tbh
yeah but you also said jay should be in the top 5 lol

in the last thread when jay's ranking came out all I said in my post was his ranking felt a bit low
EDIT: nvm you were talking about my post in the Hub Post thread, I forgot about that lmfao
I'm sad lansky isn't top 10 because he seemed nice and was super good. 11 is close enough though :-)
Here I was thinking Dave_AC was getting a rating way too high and he's not even on the list? Worst Christmas ever.
Hey at least Mangachu is a shoe-in for top 10 now... right...?
I don't want to refer to their position in the list, but i am really happy to see TLR and Lanksy only now and so close to each other on top of that. (But please keep in mind that i can only judge these two from what i could see from videos and matches, so i can't "judge" their personalities at all pretty much.)
Rooting mostly for the "froyo" teams and the teamnames before, i remember TLR as a damn scary soldier (and a pain in the ass who would way too often beat my favorite team...). Can't really hate anybody though, so i just sobbed whenever mix^ won and tried to be happy for them instead. Can't describe how fun it was then, to be able to have him on my favorite team during his time with froyo. In terms of pocket soldiers he's definitely one of the earlierst i would mention if asked to name iconic ones.
And then there is Lanksy. That guy on his own made pocket soldier the dream of many people, i'm sure (no, i'm not, but at least for me it worked). He was so fun to watch and also just blew my mind by how he played pocket (i think he started the "gunboats depending on situation" trend..?). On top of that, the shade Vlogs - i'm honestly not sure if i should enjoy them as much as i do, because i'm still not certain shade was not legit bullying him sometimes and he was super uncomfortable, but i HOPE it was all in good fun and spirits. I also hope that's not a bad thing to say, but Lansky (to me) started as some kid coming in to play some god tier TF2 and he left maybe way too early, because i think he could've cemented himself as the best soldier in the history of this game.
slemnish has some nasty sniper plays as well and was the designated sniper on most of his teams, why only scout icon on his ranking?
I really don't envy the people that have to rank players like TLR and arekk on the same list. I might not agree with where everyone is on the list, but that is point is like trying to judge who innovated their class more or who choked on LAN.
If Blaze isn't top 3 its the biggest snub of all time

He also failed to mention yosh‘s crazy sniping abilities as well, id argue he was better at 6s sniper than bo4r and was also a top hl sniper. Corsa and slem should both get sniper next to theirs imo
enigma not top 10 (would easily argue top 3 for contributions to his class, let alone the game) no anonemouse danteh moose arcticjoe omar oov (weeble?), i got rated below decimate (phenomenal player but is it pug or league career?) vhalin 90. scout knowers only i guess.
not as related to rankings but yz clock enigma ruwin vhalin created the foundation for playing scout. everyone else is just building on their stuff,
also no sweater is a sad for sure.

Hard agree with everything except carnage actually entirely changed how scout was played in this game, even more so than those listed. They did a similar thing but carnage entering this game was truly the biggest meta shift of all time imo. No one played an in your face scout until he came around

thank you for adding this, i literally thought i had remembered this aspect of tf2 history wrong because i assumed if it were true it would have been in his blurb. wish i had seen what it was like for a player to redefine a metagame to that extent in real time
I think it is understated how much Yz revolutionized the class
carnage did get healed and press w and define the modern "carry" scout but Yz showed how much of a threat scout could be once the projectile classes caught up (which they did). Yz's movement and aim were both so good and he was probably my biggest NA inspiration next to enigma. wltrs made me tho
that was more or less my understanding of scout history. carnage created the aggressive style and yz was the first "dm lord" scout as it were. sorry if that term has any sort of negative connotation to it i just dont have a better way to put it lmao
at this point i think maybe rr isnt making the list
still one of the best scout vids ever
harbleumade top 10 get fucked TLR
still beat enigma, imagine being #15 LOL
I love how this article series is like a summoning circle designed to bring back old TF2 players to drop one liners.

Seeing posts from players like dummy, squid, clock, alfa, harb, and TLR all on the same page is genuinely nostalgic. I've been graduated from college for over a year and a half at this point and those were names I all first heard of when I was still in middle school lol
holy shit I forgot about sweater yeah that's a snub
lucrative

agree with this.
definitely only drawing on my own experience for my post, i played when all the players listed + carnage played, but i never really thought to myself 'id love to play like he does'. his contributions were a little more conceptual in showing how scout could be played (popularizing 104 damage scattershots for example lol) and it was probably just a bit before my time.
yz clock danteh and omar were the big play scouts i always looked up to (and strangely early on a player whose name i cant remember on AG whose forum name was 'imblind'. proly cause he was canadian)
anyways grats to the mixup boys who broke top 50 8)
squid(and strangely early on a player whose name i cant remember on AG whose forum name was 'imblind'. proly cause he was canadian)
that was tyranny
