Does it lower fps significantly on some people's systems too much?
Too much file space taken up?
I don't understand how people in 2022 are getting banned from etf2l/rgl for not submitting demos - what is a valid reason not to record demos

If the glove doesn’t exist, how can the hand fit in it
One of the strangest reasons I've witnessed for refusing to upload was because someone who got their demos requested had not logged in to ETF2L for couple years and didn't want to break that offline streak to upload couple demos
The person in question hasn't logged in there since but they did play last year

I've known some players to be quite superstitious about random things affecting their TF2 install. Saying stuff like they can't play with certain HUDs, they can't play with p-rec installed, they need net graph to show their interp as 0, the list goes on. I'm fairly certain its all in their heads but they'll believe that things like p-rec are stopping them from playing properly and won't use it for that reason.

recording a demo does make your game run slightly worse and Im 99% sure I remember mastercoms saying it messes up hitreg a little, probably not the reason people don't record though
Wandumsources: dude trust me
Listen bro I'm just saying what I recall, and I phrased it that way too. Here's some messages I could find from the mastercomfig discord, again I'm not sure how true it is, just something I remembered, like I said initinally, but mastercoms has generally been right about things

While recording a demo can reduce FPS (it does a little bit extra work in recording networking data), it wasn't as bad as I thought in those messages and it does not affect hitreg. The mix-up came from two things, that I should have looked more closely at: one, VCR mode (described at https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Tier0 to be part of demos) and two, tool recording mode (which had some misleading comments which made me think it was more general). Neither of these systems are related to the in-game demo system, and thus none of what I was looking at before was relevant to it.
