Arxthe301stspartanArx. If you just wanted to cooperate like you said how about you just talked to tf.tv yourself after they submitted first? Or how about you talk to them right now instead of making this abysmal thread that accomplishes nothing whatsoever.

Everyone, go.
It's the whole point of my frustrations. With a lose reference, if someone invades your country and you fend them off, do you then invite them in to run it with you?
Even if I think it would be better to let them in, the hostile approach makes it difficult to want to...
It would have been better to speak to us, and attempted to run it together first.
If I was in your situation, I would man the fuck up, talk to the tf.tv crew, who are all great people who love tf2, and make i49 the greatest tf2 party of all time that it deserves to be. That, and having enigma banish this reprehensible thread to the darkest pit, is the right course of action. Now do it.

Never knew VTV owned i49/multiplay, tftv is literally Hitler invading Arx's country.
An extremely lose reference (loose analogy?).

Just to clarify this quickly, I had a productive chat with Beta on IRC. This should clear up some stuff.
<skyride> me and comedian's issue is with byte
<skyride> we don't like how he runs the org, and we have no interest in working under him
<skyride> any tftv-vtv deal would have involved that to some degree, hence our own proposal
<skyride> i have no issue with anyone else, and i'm happy to write off everything said on both sides as just daft things said in the heat of the moment
We put aside our differences for about 18 months with VTV in the first place and it didn't work. I would genuinely rather just not be involved than work under byte (which is exactly what I did for about 3 months before TFTV EU was created).

sinnerIt's called capitalism VTV. Get over it.
No.
In this instance, since tf2 is a very, very tiny e-sport, unification is needed to get it somewhere. The bid was a professional way of handling an esport that, with its public rapport is silly and unprofessional.
Part of growing this esport is growing a professional demeanor in events, and discouraging unsportsmanlike and unprofessional behavior. Thankfully, not everybody reads these forums, but, it does little to help the clout of this sport.
Shame on both parties for not handling this like gentleman/ladies. But what is done is done and should be learned from for future events.

I didn't know I was supposed to ask other applicants for a job if it was okay if I applied too.
How do you actually feel wronged about this? How the fuck does applying for jobs work in Europe if this is somehow bad?

It's what I thought should have happened from the start. TF.TV should have spoken to us but before we even got the chance to go speak to them about the event, we get an email from Multiplay telling us to fight our case. I'm venting because TF.TV decided to take a different approach instead of cooperating for the good of the game... and I'm venting because you're correct... it's still the right course of action to talk it out and work something out that involves both of the organisations, but it's hard to consider talking to 'great people' that try to oust you from one of your passions... covering competitive TF2 at the Multiplay LAN events.
The smarter people out of the readers here would see that while this is a vent on how TF.TV annoyed me personally, it is also an attempt to justify opening a dialogue for the benefit of the community.

We just passed the point in this thread where memeposts are generating more +frags than on-topic content. I propose we bootstrap the thread to the meta-discussion phase where it can shrivel up and die.

No. Stop talking. Do what I said. You repeated "This is how it should've gone but tf.tv ruined it" plenty times. At this point you are calling me unintelligent.
However you know that the only right thing is to do what I said. If you are open for any "dialogue for the benefit of the community" you need to stop this thread which is the opposite of that and actually start a dialog. It is that simple. Everything else is counterproductive rambling that helps nobody.

Wrong. We wrote our own proposal and secured the contract. That's not what this is about at all. I'm mad because TF.TV should be focused on how to make this event epic, which should have started with working with Vanilla TV instead of trying to discard Vanilla TV.

ArxI'm venting because TF.TV decided to take a different approach instead of cooperating for the good of the game...
is there are a particular aspect of our coverage that you believe wouldn't be the best for the community?
do you believe TFTV as a brand is weaker than VTV?
do you believe Lange/Skyride/Comedian wouldn't have done an incredible job on the technical/production side?
are Sal/Admirable/Greg/yuki + a host of other articulate prem players (who will all been there in person) not good enough of casters?
in what sense, objectively, would this outcome not have been the best for the community?

You act like this is fact rather than opinion. Vanilla's involvement isn't mandatory to make an event great.

Why do you think they wanted to take the spot? To make it epic of course, they don't /have/ to work with VTV unless they wish too, they just wish to try to care of things for once. You make it sound like we're doing bad or doing wrong this way.
