I don't want this to be a stupid question but I really don't know how else to say it... I've been watching lan and 149 and B4nny just consistently amazes me with how good he is. But I really can't tell why. Besides his 8500+ hours of tf2, what makes B4nny so good?
EDIT: Confused as to why the minus frags...

This is my guess - I have ~4k hours of TF2. About 3500 of those I was fucking around on pubs or drunk. About 500 I was actively trying to improve, maybe less. Banny has about 8500 hours of actively trying to improve.
edit: and clearly I'm shit.

I've only had the pleasure of playing with b4nny once, when he rang for Panic, but from that one experience, I can tell you that his ability to support the most important person at the right times differentiates him heavily. Besides the huge amount of area control he exerts by knowing where all the most important spam spots are, he's always ready to support the flank or pocket when they are going for a pick.

Ryb is easily at the same level. Can't beat the OG.

DM wise Brego is pretty much the same.

Watch one of the vods from B4nny's stream when he pugs and you will see why everyone thinks he's amazing. His DM is very good but more importantly he has amazing situational awareness, strategic knowledge and intuition about what the opposing team will do. In other words, he's very good at identifying 1) what plays have to be made in order to improve the immediate and long-term situation for his team and 2) knowing exactly how to execute said plays in the manner most likely to succeed. He may not pull it off every time but he DOES make the best possible decision every time.
Plus, his game is extremely polished and takes advantage of almost every TF2 mechanic. For example, when he engages in team fights he usually puts damage on the people the farthest away from the medic, which forces them either to retreat back to the medic for heals (exposing them to group spam and compromising their position) or to flee from the fight. Just look at how he snipes stickies and places pipe spam. Whenever there's a transition or a push, he almost always gets a pick on an enemy player with a sticky trap. He always positions himself in a way which usually guarantees his survival, making it hard for teams to pick up a lot of points off a bad push or uber, since with a combination of sticky traps and spam (he's scary to push into) he is able to slow them down a lot. Plus, a lot of the time he can get picks off of people who think he is vulnerable but really walk into his sticky traps. The way that he spams and pressures is very effective at making opportunities for his teammates--this is an aspect of his play that I think isn't immediately obvious when you watch but which really strengthens the team.
What I'm trying to say is that he plays in a very technical way which seems to display a huge amount of knowledge about the game, and that's what people find impressive about him.

I heard he's one of those people who does this weird thing called "practice".
Apparently it makes you better.

What is it with all the B4nny dick sucking going on here? It seems like if anyone says he's not the best player in the world you will get -fragged to the pits.

I used to play with b4nny years ago, and it was totally fucking obvious from day one that the guy was utter shit and always would be. No idea how to play, never improved, and cluttered coms with dumb shit like "I killed 4 of them with a blind det. *mario laugh* We should push." OK, smart guy... Nice right click. He finally started doing alright once he got Tyrone to carry his ass. Now it's poor Lansky. Ty, and mackey both had to step back from TF2 due to heinous back problems from hoisting b4nny around all the time. Be careful young lansky, for Grant will use up your body until you are nothing but a dried out husk of a man with nothing but a job and social life.
You fucking suck Grant, and you would help pay for Ty's physio if you had a soul.
Love,
Oaf.
