BeaterHow about all American teams switch over to ETF2L?
If enough American teams sign up for season 17, ETF2L would be able to put them into their own seperate divisions. That could keep the scene going until a better solution is figured out.
would be somewhat confusing since it is called "European Team Fortress 2 League" but it could work possibly

I'm not saying I'm in favor of anything ESEA did. Nor do I particularly have any love of any particular gaming company.
The question I have...
Why aren't they selling this as the NJ government not understanding what the client does - yes it does gather data of your computer, that's known and accepted (because it has to take demos and other data to detect cheats) and so forth.
I kinda get that is the vibe they wanted to send, but I'd be harping on it because that's their only hope of not dragging out the bogey man again.

From what the first post says this is so obvious they don't even need to try.
It's like if the NSA said they weren't spying on people. Oh wait they did and couldn't pull it off.

What would happen if all LAN qualifying teams just refused to show up because of the scandal?
I mean ESEA can't just ignore a move like that

You know that enigma, Platinum, b4nny et al will never give up ESEA and that means the rest of you need to bite the pillow and take it.

They'ed just cut tf2 altogether... Really the only reason they haven't dropped tf2 is because of the sheer dedication there is to get the teams to lan.

Then the prize money will just be shifted to CSGO and we look like a bunch of crybabies complaining after the fact.

As I, lp "Elite Pimp" kane, the originator of the term meatshot I get that question a lot but lucky for you I'm here to settle this debate once and for all.
What's a meatshot?:
Getting caught admittedly sneaking a bitcoin miner into your video game league's cheat client. DATS A MEATSHOT
Forfeiting the right to call the league you own fair and generally tossing all of your credibility into the flaming dumpster you were born in. DATS A MEATSHOT
Later be revealed to have snuck a trojan into the client as well, having had full access to your userbase's thousands of computers at any time. DATS A MEATSHOT
Getting you and your scapegoat sued by the state of New Jersey. DATS A MEATSHOT
Paying back your bitcoin money by sticking it in the prize pot and paying a $350k settlement instead of buying another private jet. DATS A MEATSHOT
Denying all allegations and begging your users to stay. DATS A MEATSHOT
Having all of your dipshit users, including TF2, stay anyway. DATS A MEATSHOT
HAHA MEATSHOT 8) HAHA MEATSHOT 8) HAHA MEATSHOT 8) HAHA MEATSHOT 8) HAHA MEATSHOT 8) HAHA MEATSHOT 8) HAHA MEATSHOT 8) HAHA MEATSHOT 8) HAHA MEATSHOT 8) HAHA MEATSHOT 8) HAHA MEATSHOT 8) HAHA MEATSHOT 8)

would you rather we look like crybabies or would you rather we play in a league that doesnt install fucking backdoor malware nsa shit on our pcs
at this point itd be nice if some of the higher up players/teams would pitch in and say whether or not they would be seriously willing to forgo a LAN and a prize pot for a few seasons so that we could just get away from ESEA

i don't think i'm ever going to play in esea ever again after this fiasco
i wonder how many people will still look to play in a league that actually installed malware onto their users computers lmfao

Yes, that's probably the biggest issue.

ETF2L has been hosting teams from across the world (including NA teams) and South America also. Currently they're just placed in divs with teams from similar regions/timezones if possible. I don't see how making a league is much different from that.
Also for a European League where the best nation at highlander is...the United States.
Anyway, an NA Division at ETF2L is easy to do if we get the interest and talk some things through internally. We would need a group of volunteers to admin the NA side of things, but this is all subject to debate once we can confirm interest.

If anyone is interested in making a new league, I'm down to help with graphics and website design.
this is literally my first season of ESEA and probably my last. its ridiculous, we all put up with it because its the only legitimate sorta kinda e-sport league for tf2. most people look down on cevo and etf2l because they're not the prestigious and glorious ESEA. the only thing that is different from other leagues are the LANs. are the near virus level of software you have to download to participate worth it? not for me
im peacing the fuck out of esea once the seasons over

I do agree with most of the posts so far. I think what ESEA has done should be an unforgivable crime in the eyes of the users. If people want to boycott the league in the future, I will happily stand behind that decision, but skipping the current LAN will do nothing except cause ESEA to pocket the $14,100 prize pot.
Maybe the two LAN teams other than Mixup and iT should forgo the LAN. Third place breakdown is only $423 per person, so that team will likely not break even with LAN fees, and fourth place is only $270 per person, so it's unlikely anyone will even come close to breaking even there. The community will still see the big two duke it out. Our prize money can go to Mixup and iT who can get extra shitfaced with the extra cash. Then 12 of us get banned next season for dodging LAN and the ESEA destruction catalyst will have its roots firmly sown. 8)

YES PLEASE! Make etf2l a world league, it would be a win-win situation, more exposure for etf2l + sponsors and prizes + global league, etc etc...

Maybe if NA ETF2L really does happen we can at last have the well deserved etf2l website redesign? now that would be glorious
I stll think teams should go to this lan, otherwise as smakers said it would only cause ESEA to pocket the money, but after that people should definitely step back from the league and take a stance about this. ETF2L, CEVO, IGL or whatever is the solution but please, behaving like a victim of domestic abuse just because "we can't find anything better" is ridiculous.

nerkulnah, pretty straightforward
